Kung Fu Panda 2

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? DreamWorks Animation surprised us all in the summer of 2008 with a movie called Kung Fu Panda, starring Jack Black as the voice of a loveable panda named Po. Now they're back with a sequel, simply titled Kung Fu Panda 2 despite teasing names like Kaboom of Doom, introducing the villain Lord Shen, voiced by Gary Oldman. How is this sequel? Does it live up to the original or is it back to basics with DreamWorks? Are the visuals awesome and does it have a good story to go along with them? If you've seen it, leave a comment and tell us what you thought of Kung Fu Panda 2.

To fuel the fire, I was again surprised and impressed by Kung Fu Panda 2, just like I was with the first one. It was a bit slow at the start, mostly because it seemed like more of the same, epic fight sequences being shown in 3D, watching the Furious Five (+1) work together. It was fun at first, but it wasn't until the third act, with the story involving Po's father and all the other Panda's and how it played out to the big fight on the ships and the scene at the end with the cannonballs - awesome. They got me again - emotionally with the story, awesomely with the visuals, it kicked ass. Though it's not without flaws and mostly is more of the same, I really enjoyed Kung Fu Panda 2 and definitely suggest seeing it if you also enjoyed the first movie.

What did you think of Kung Fu Panda 2? Another awesome sequel or boring animated mess? We will remove any comments that indicate you have not seen the movie, as this area is meant to discuss the film only once you have seen it and can talk about your thoughts. Please keep the comments civilized!

I thought it was awesome, a very charming tale again. Dreamworks may  be turning it around, with How to Train Your Dragon, and Kung Fu Panda 2. Megamind was ok but better than much of the other stuff they have been putting out

Saw it. It was horrid. Save your money.

Fantastic!!! The kids in the theatre loved it too. Great meaningful story and stuffed with kung fu.

It was ok. I felt a little bit let down though. Angelina Jolie's acting was pretty crappy. Example being when the floor gives way and when she says watch out, it felt like she just phoned it in.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the movies, then Dreamworks comes out with another mediocre sequel with voices that don't match the character designs with their distinct brand of American Jewish humor. BLAH. I should've waited for Cars 2.

I really loved it. I thought the visuals were great, I enjoyed the characters (especially the new villian), and I found the story interesting.

Awesome sequel...built on the themes of the first movie, but added new content in doing so.  Nice new cast additions, great visuals, and wonderful flushing out of our protagonist's past.  Far better than at least one of the other sequels that hit this weekend.  Not a waste of time or money, at all!!

Freaking loved it. Whoever doesn't are way too harsh and expect way to much from a kids show. 🙂

I loved it, and so did both of my kids, 5 & 7.  I thought it was even better than the first one.  I'll buy it on Blu-Ray when it comes out.

Agree with the above poster.  This film/franchise really doesn't have enough depth and is simply action and fat jokes.  You can put that in any film and survive our film market...especially with A class voice talent, and great visuals. I will give this franchise that.  Good visuals, and this one was better than the first, but in my opinion Kung-Fu Panda is at the bottom of the my list when it comes to kids films.  Its a complete garbage franchise with shallow characters and shallow plot lines.  Sure there's the nice plot line of a mediocre fat panda being an all powerful Kung-Fu leader....but anyone who is around kids or studies kids knows that that simplistic message is lost underneath the hour+ of violence and making fun of said fatness.  You can't put a broad moral message in 5-10 minutes of a hour + movie and expect kids to remember it past all the negative the movie is showing kids.  Kids just don't work that way.

Umm most movies now don't have plot and are all explosions or bad kiddy jokes... Kung Fu Panda 2 has some original jokes awesome fight scenes and a fairly decent plot that matched with the above awesomeness is a great movie.

Seen Thor and Pirates. Both good, but Kung Fu was my favorite so far.

I liked it.... A lot.  They expanded the scope, action and backstory and it was still funny to me.  good time at the movies.

The box office has spoken. EPIC FAIL. The director may be a talented storyboard artist as far as Dreamworks is concerned which isn't say much but clearly she does not have the ability to tell a full length feature story. Back to the drawing board for her.

Anyone dissing this movie has obviously forgotten the other animated flops over the years. I thought his was superior to the first not as much comedy but it makes up with that in the action sequences and they do manage to crack a few good jokes. I have been slightly disappointed with all the movies iv seen so far this year, but kung Fu panda 2 was epic!!

My sister and friend said it was terrible. I personally loved it. Po was adorable as a baby! (Just thought I'd share that.) It was a fantastic movie, better than I thought it was going to be. And I thought it was going to be amazing, totally not what I expected. (In a good way, of course.)

When I walked into the theater for this movie I thought the movie was going to be great. After I thought the creators of the movie wanted to make it a comedy but it turned out not to be a comedy. And the movie was basically made for 8 year olds so I give the movie a C+.

Amazing write-up! This could aid plenty of people find out more about this particular issue. Are you keen to integrate video clips coupled with these? It would absolutely help out. Your conclusion was spot on and thanks to you; I probably won’t have to describe everything to my pals. I can simply direct them here!
