Michael Fassbender in Steve McQueen's Shame

Briefly: Good news - Fox Searchlight has scheduled a limited release of Steve McQueen's controversial, but sensational, film Shame, starring Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan, on December 2nd this fall - right smack in the middle of the awards season. The news comes from a @FoxSearchlight tweet stating that "we're releasing Steve McQueen's SHAME in the US on December 2nd, 2011!" No word on the rating, as it's expected to receive NC-17 or go unrated, but who knows. I saw the film in Telluride and loved it, and I think Fassbender has a strong chance for an Oscar nom. We'll keep you updated on cities and release plans.

I only care about one Fassbender role. Prometheus!

Can't wait. I've heard Fassbender's performance is earning him comparisons to Daniel Day Lewis.

this guy is fantastic in any role, he should get an Oscar nom.

i say oscar nom for x-men, if he wins that will be stupid, but i believe he should be nominated, unless there are better contenders

No, he should win the Oscars. He is that good.

Why would this be NC-17 or go unrated?

Fassbender is freaking top-class acting. I love him to bits. He is amazing in everything. Most notably in Hunger, Fish Tank, Centurion, def X-Men and Shame will just be extraordinary. CAN"T WAIT!!! He is Oscar material.

This is going to be a very contraversial film.... But Fassy and his amazing acting will pull it off. I am so excited for him.
