Steven Spielberg

Not long ago, there were rumblings that Warner Bros. wanted Steven Spielberg to sit in the director's chair for their Moses-centric epic Gods and Kings, but with so many projects on his plate, from Lincoln coming up next to Robopocalypse sometime after, it didn't seem like a real possibility. Well, now it sounds like there's a better chance of it happening now as Twitch has learned that the studio and Spielberg are now in formal talks for the man who has The Adventures of Tintin and War Horse hitting theaters next month, to take on this project of Biblical proportions. A Spielberg epic sounds like just what the doctor ordered.

The film will span Moses' entire life story from his birth all the way to his final days. This includes such highlights as his awakening to the plight of the Hebrew slaves that led Mosesā€™ struggle against the Pharaoh for their freedom out of Egypt, the Ten Plagues, the Burning Bush, the daring escape across the Red Sea, and even receiving the Ten Commandments, and delivering them to Israel. It'll be interesting to see how the film pans out, especially with someone like Spielberg at the helm. It sounds like this would be less of a blockbuster and more of a historical drama for awards season, something with which Spielberg has plenty of experience. There's still a chance a deal might not come together, so stay tuned as this project develops.

Idiotic? Cause I don't have your beliefs? Nice.

ur_babys_daddy on Nov 16, 2011

You couldn't say it better, Tremblay S: HISTORICAL? These jews & christiansĀ in Hollywwod obsesed wih their own myths... And trying to sell them as "historical" events...I donĀ“t know if Bollywood does the same with their own stories, but this is kind of boring. Remember that Spielberg produced that toon movie about Moses. Maybe after this project, he will do anotherone with muppets. IĀ“ll go to see that one if is done with THE MUPPETS. Dying to see Kermit-Moses and a temptress egyptian Miss Piggt princess.

Alex, please don't let your comments section become a breeding ground for trolls and derogatory speech towards others.Ā  That's exactly why I swore off some other movie sites...

I prefer to talk about movies too, but It's also important the use of words. A film about myths (like Inmortals, Clash of the Titans of The 10 Commandments) can not be called historical, even if a lot of people believe in them. Films about Santa Claus can't be called realistic, and Science Fiction is called so for something. With everybody understanding this, good films can be made from all themes, and I will be delightful to discuss them.
