'Takers' Director John Luessenhop in Talks to Helm 'Leatherface 3D'

Towards the end of last year we heard that Twisted Pictures had set writers Adam Marcus and Debra Sullivan (the team behind Conspiracy) to script another installment in the long-running Texas Chainsaw Massacre series. Leatherface 3D has been said to be a contemporary take on the chainsaw killer as a sequel to the remake from 2003 with the story being set 35 years after the events of Tobe Hooper's 1974 horror classic. Since then we haven't heard much about the project, but now Bloody Disgusting has gotten word that John Luessenhop, the man who brought us Takers, is in talks to direct the new horror. Gross!
The man doesn't really have any experience with horror (though I'm sure one of the five people who saw Takers might call it one of the scariest movies they've ever seen), so this doesn't sound all that promising. But of course, this is Twisted Pictures we're talking about here, the company that decided seven installments of Saw were absolutely necessary. It's not yet clear how soon this might get off the ground since Twisted Pictures took hold of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise back in October of 2009, and not much progress has been made. Stay tuned as more information becomes available. Anyone interested?

I was interested in the franchise before Twisted Pictures took over. I have no desire to see this whatsoever. And with this dude as the director, nothing has changed.

I would think that if it's 35 years after the original TCSM, wouldn't Leatherface be way too old to be chasing after people with a chainsaw?smh!!

" (though I'm sure one of the five people who saw Takersmight call it one of the scariest movies they've ever seen)" Dude, what planet are you on? Takers pic opened #1 at over $20mil first weekend with $9300 per screen average on way to $60mil total. Also opened #1 DVD, Blu Ray, dvd rental and VOD. Know what you are talking about. Bet right now, Luesenhop breathes great life into this struggling franchise.
