For the most part, the adaptations of Dr. Seuss' classic stories haven't been all that impressive. Most of them depart so far from the original story, that they almost turn into completely different stories. The animated adaptation of Horton Hears a Who! worked better than the live-action, heavy-make-up adaptations like The Cat in the Hat and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, so I have hope for Universal and Ilumination Entertainment (the groups behind Despicable Me) bringing The Lorax to the big screen in animated form. Now we have a simple, very orange teaser poster featuring the titular character right smack in the middle.
Here's the teaser poster for Illumination Entertainment's The Lorax courtesy of Yahoo! Movies:
In this version of The Lorax, a boy searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world from a greedy entrepreneur as he strips a forest of its stock of Truffula trees to manufacture clothing. Danny DeVito voices The Lorax while supporting voice talent includes Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Betty White, Rob Riggle and Ed Helms. Despicable Me director Chris Renaud is co-dircting with animator Kyle Balda from a script written by Hop and Horton Hears a Who! screenwriters Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul. Universal is bring The Lorax to theaters on March 2nd, 2012.

Are you kidding? Horton Hears A Who was utterly retarded. At least Grinch's humor was closer to the WB special, and therefore easier to digest.

It doesn't help the original Horton story was stupid and like 7 pages long (ok so I never read it). I have to agree with Ethan that Horton was much easier to watch than both Cat and Grinch. At least in Horton Jim bothered acting, while the other two were just Mike n Jim being obnoxious.

"The Lorax" is like the cult classic of the Dr. Seuss' books. People love that book. I expect an ardent opposition to this adaptation, but who really cares? Dig the 'stache.

Despicable Me was meh. Distinctly French flavor to it. Not a fan.
