by Tim Buel
April 13, 2011
On this week's episode of The Golden Briefcase, Tim & Jeremy are joined by guest Scott Weinberg from TwitchFilm and FEARnet to go through their latest Picks of the Week, the newest in DVD & Blu-Ray releases, the new trailer for Lars Von Trier's sci-fi drama Melancholia and much more! The main topic of the night was a comprehensive contemplation/discussion of Wes Craven's Scream franchise, in honor of the return of Scream 4 hitting theaters this upcoming weekend. The guys talk through all three original films of the franchise, their impact on the horror genre and expectations for the new fourth film. Listen in!
The Golden Briefcase is also broadcast LIVE on Tuesday nights starting at 7:30PM (PST). You can listen in via our Ustream page or by visiting our own live page right here on FS. The podcast is just as fun to listen to live while it's being recorded, with plenty of special guests, so I suggest you tune in the next time it records!

Geez, is Scott Weinberg not the most annoying guest ever? The constant talking over the hosts, with the low-quality cell phone sound. Ugh. And then the nonstop bitching and complaining. Please do not bring him back.

13 Assassins is 1000% awesome and VOD really does a disservice to the grandeur of the film. Seeing it on the big screen is really the only way to go. A love letter to Kurosawa like I've never seen and good call on mentioning how some of the samurai fall into obscurity. Simple but fantastic, just loved it!! Great episode guys, not too keen on Scream past the first but loved the banter as always especially the idea that Scream 4 is just a life vest to the studio and the property. And thanks for pointing out Shaun of the Dead isn't a satire, it just references great horror films:P Looking forward to next time guys!
