TGB Episode 85: The Muppets? Mahna Mahna (Guest: Scott Weinberg)
by Tim Buel
November 25, 2011
On this week's episode of The Golden Briefcase, Tim & Jeremy are joined by film critic Scott Weinberg of Twitch & FEARnet to go over their latest Picks of the Week, the newest in DVD & Blu-Ray releases, talk through new trailers for Tarsem's Mirror Mirror and Rupert Sanders' Snow White and the Huntsman and much more. The topic of the night was a discussion on the wonderful legacy of Jim Henson's The Muppets in honor of the newest film coming out this week. The guys talk over some of the best and worst moments in the Muppets series, the timelessness of the characters and if the new film is purely nostalgia driven. Enjoy!
The Golden Briefcase is also broadcast LIVE on Wednesday nights starting ~7:30PM PST. You can listen in via our Ustream page or by visiting our own live page right here on FS. The podcast is just as fun to listen to live while it's being recorded, with plenty of special guests, so I suggest you tune in the next time it records!

Can someone please stop Scott Weinberg from ever guesting this podcast again? Talk about a pompous a-hole. And you guys (hosts) clearly are waaaay too worshiping/happy to have this idiot on, basically taking over the podcast from minute 1: - The first 10 minutes the esteemed guest just decides to run roughshod over your format and discuss the main review, plus Hugo and whatever the hell he wants.- When there finally are some interesting trailers to discuss, we have to suffer through a 5 minute diatribe from mr. Whineberg about why we shouldn't judge films based on trailers... bla bla. No shit. But it is a trailer discussion - something one of you finally managed to pipe up after a couple of minutes. - Not to mention all the talking over the hosts.Geez - Man up! Take control, and reign in your guest. I could only suffer through half of this podcast, before I had to turn it off. Hopefully the next podcast episode will be back to usual standards.

LOL!!! Lars I was thinking the same thing when I was listening. Remember that these people/guests they have on are [mostly] critics, and by their very nature are more likely to be very opinionated, and at times, "pompous a-holes". And to the guys, remember the show could always use a little more Rappe.

Oh I don't have any problem with differing opinions - In fact I probably would agree more with Mr. Weinberg than I would disagree. But the way the meek hosts (this time at least) let him just run over the show is what set me off. And yes, more women guests would be a great idea.

Lars! Ha! Sorry to disappoint this week man. We love Scott, he's a good friend but yes I see where you are coming from. He likes to talk and we're fine with that. Unfortunately more often than not, many of our guests don't talk enough and I think Scott more than fulfills that lacking that we sometimes have. Sorry that you didn't dig this episode. Hope you come back for more!

I most definitely will keep listening. Who knows, maybe I'll voice my next complaint as a 5 star iTunes review. 😀
