The Dark Knight Rises

Oh this is awesome! SlashFilm is reporting, and we've confirmed with our own sources, that a 6-minute prologue for Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises will be showing in front of IMAX prints of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol this December. If you recall, it's opening in IMAX a few days early starting December 16th. This is a repeat of Warner Bros' showing the opening bank robbery prologue from The Dark Knight in front of I Am Legend in IMAX in late 2007. We can expect this to be shot and shown in IMAX just like that, which sounds amazing, as that was one of the most thrilling parts about the early lead-up to TDK.

The news tip from SlashFilm comes from an exhibitor source, and we've confirmed with our own inside reference, that this is indeed true and a prologue will be showing. We don't know what scene it is or what it will be, we only know that it's 6 minutes long and will be in front of Brad Bird's new Mission: Impossible movie opening this December (watch the trailer). There are scenes in Ghost Protocol shot on IMAX (we should know more this week) and there are many scenes in The Dark Knight Rises shot on IMAX too, so we can expect this prologue to be another IMAX opener. I can't wait to see it and I almost don't want to know anything about it until seeing it for the first time later this year - but I'm very excited knowing it's coming!

The Dark Knight Rises, arriving in theaters on July 20th, 2012, is still shooting right now and is rumored to be going to New York City to get footage from the Occupy Wall Street protests, which makes me wonder if we may see something like that in this prologue. Either way, I'm already anxious to see this, as that bank robbery prologue with the Joker was one of my favorite parts of The Dark Knight and it was absolutely breathtaking—and intense as hell—to watch in IMAX. This is exactly what I was hoping we'd see for TDKR, bravo Warner Bros for arranging it, and bring it on Chris Nolan - let's see what you've got for us this time!

To anyone doubting this film, you're an idiot.  End.

Despite the fact that my local IMAX theater sucks ass, I will be seeing this there without a doubt. Can't wait!

Well, they had to try and do something to get people to see one of Tom Cruse's movies.  Will definitely see The Dark Knight, but hell will have to freeze over before I'll see a TC movie.

Nuts to that, get in your time machine and go hop on a couch. The MI movies are great (give or take the 2nd) and...most importantly....this is a Brad Bird movie!!! Brad Bird trumps all.

Im probably the minority, but I think I'd prefer to see TDKR unspoiled as best as possible until its release, even 8 minutes of it, but I also really want to see, and I doubt there's a way to avoid the prologue and still get a good seat goddammitt

No, just watch MI4 in a regular screening.  He said it's showing in front of the IMAX presentation, so if you can stand to give that up, you won't have to sit through spoilers to get a good seat.

LOL!!! headphones and yours eyes closed my friend...BUT...lets be honest ..can we really hold back from peeking :))) I agree...the previews spoil too much...especially 6 minutes. I hated the way the showed the truck flipping in TDK trailer. would have been awesome not seeing that til the movie. I wanna see M:I4 but waiting 4 yrs to see the Batman again.....
