Tom Cruise

Cruise is going to war! Variety is reporting that Tom Cruise is in talks to the join the cast of All You Need Is Kill, a futuristic war movie about a soldier who finds himself reliving the last day he's killed over and over. The project has been in development for a while, you've probably heard it mentioned before, as they were aiming for a younger actor like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but instead have now focused on Cruise, even rewritting the character to be suited to his age (Cruise is 49). He's not officially signed, but director Doug Liman (Go, Bourne Identity, Jumper) has gone so far as to fly to a set and continue discussions with him.

Tom Cruise seems to have gotten the sci-fi bug again, as he's picky but is choosing a couple of high profile sci-fi flicks. After getting his 80's dancing/singing out with Rock of Ages, he's now shooting One Shot as Jack Reacher, directed by Christopher McQuarrie. Up next after that is Joe Kosinski's distant planet sci-fi Oblivion or Horizons, then he's considering doing All You Need Is Kill, another futuristic sci-fi described as Groundhog Day meets Starship Troopers. There's one thing worse than dying. It's coming back to do it again and again… This isn't the first we've heard Cruise's name in the mix, but it's obvious Warner Bros really wants a huge star. And it sounds like if they nab him, this might come together. I think it's a great concept and I've read part of the script, it's intense but awesome, I hope we get to see this sooner than later.

he should do more indie instead of these blockbuster films. Leave these movies for younger actors.

If they are willing to pay him a higher salary (20M+) and have him in their movie instead of a new actor (salary 1M) then they must have their reasons. and Yes Tom was awesome in Minority Report..awesome in everything actually!

Hmmm....okay, then the film is going ahead.  The book was incredible--short, but one of the best SF stories I've ever read.  It was originally a Japanese novel, but the English translation has been around for a couple of years now.  Recommend you read it.

We live in a society which accepts WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM a movie called ALL YOU NEED IS KILL, but would be shocked with a film called ALL YOU NEED IS FUCK. Even worse, in USA you are not even aloud to write down fuck, but you can write down kill hundreds of times withour any problem. What a shame!

So what? The book was originally published in Japan, and that was its title, whether you like it or not. Tell you what....why don't you try to actually read the book first before spouting off nonsense?
