'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' Returns to IMAX 3D This Weekend

Here we go again. Paramount has announced via THR/Deadline that Michael Bay's Transformers: Dark of the Moon will be returning to IMAX theaters only for a two-week run starting this weekend, August 26th, through September 8th. These will be IMAX 3D showings of the movie, which was mostly shot in 3D and digitally remastered with IMAX technology. Dark of the Moon, which I admittedly enjoyed, has already earned $350 million at the box office since opening on June 28th this summer, but don't forget it's already over $1 billion worldwide. However that's not enough for Paramount or Bay, as they want to push it higher.
Dark of the Moon will be re-showing in 246 IMAX theaters around North America. During the run, other IMAX movies already showing will remain in theaters (including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and Final Destination 5). To be honest, this isn't that surprising or shocking. They re-released Avatar last year (albeit with extra footage) and if there's any way to experience this Transformers movie, it's in an IMAX theater being blown away by the sound and that awesome hour-long action sequence at the end (in 3D). Yea, I know not everyone liked this sequel, but I thought Bay really did redeem himself and deliver a Transformers movie immeasurably better than that atrocious Revenge of the Fallen second movie.
Other IMAX releases coming up include Steven Soderbergh's Contagion and DreamWorks' Real Steel. If you didn't catch Bay's final Transformers dénouement, starring Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson, Patrick Dempsey, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich and Alan Tudyk, in proper 3D the first time, the way it deserves be seen (at least once), now is your chance! I might have to go see this, as I'm definitely not going to be watching it in 3D on the TV at home! Anyone going?

Only Imax around here is that fake AMC 5 foot bigger than regular sized screens Imax. So no. Maryland sucks.

I really wish they would have released 2D showings on the IMAX alongside the 3D. I feel the 3D did nothing for me.

Since they aren't adding any extra footage to the IMAX release, perhaps they could add the little-known 'secret' commentary track that Michael Bay recorded. It's just him chanting "YOU ARE ALL RETARDED I HAVE ALL YOUR MONEY" over and over again, while masturbating.

More of this garbage. All in favor of having something more entertaining like "star wars" say I.

It will do no business. I work at a theater with an IMAX and it was doing nothing at the end of its first run. I expect the same for this 2 week engagement.
