Trent Reznor / Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Whoa! Looks like Trent Reznor, frontman for the band Nine Inch Nails and now Oscar winning composer, has really caught the Hollywood bug. EW has confirmed a story originally reported earlier this week saying that Reznor will not only be scoring, but also briefly appear in, Timur Bekmambetov's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter adaptation, which is shooting this year for a summer 2012 release. Reznor will compose the score for the period action-horror movie, and play Jack Barts, the vampire who kills Lincoln’s mother and sets the hero on his path of righteous vengeance. Hell yes! This sounds even better with every update.

The Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter story kicks off with the revelation that Lincoln's mother was killed by Bart, which fuels his passion to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers. The book depicts the US president as an axe-throwing highly trained vampire killer. Bekmambetov's cast already includes Benjamin Walker as Abraham Lincoln, Anthony Mackie as his friend Will, Dominic Cooper as his mentor Henry Stugress, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Lincoln's wife Mary Todd. Shooting starts this year and 20th Century Fox has already scheduled a June 22nd, 2012 release. I'm just a bit more excited knowing Reznor is involved! Between this and Fincher's Dragon Tattoo, there's lots of great movie music to look forward to.

Awesome! Trent's always struck me (mostly from his videos) as someone that would be a pretty decent actor. This just doubled my excitement for this flick.

I like that the RZA isn't the only musician now with a 'pop culture' background working on Hollywood film scores. Daft Punk, Karen O, Trent Reznor... I loves me some variety!

I think I just came... HELL YES!!!

Sorry, kids, but if you go to the Nine Inch Nails Hotline, you will see that this information is false in the extreme.

Now if only Maynard James Keenan can get into some "good" flicks we could be witnessing a new renaissance.

Yeah I'm calling bullshit on this. I'd say he might be willing to score this movie........maybe, but act in it I really doubt it.

Anything that diverts Reznor's attention from producing the Year Zero TV series is a waste of time. So unless this is just some money raising going on here, he shouldn't take any part in this movie. Especially if the result is something like Ghosts or the Social Network which were fine, but the man is wasted on just 'fine'.
