Atticus Ross & Trent Reznor The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Oh hell yes, this is what you've been waiting for. Thanks to a tip from our friends at the The Film Stage, an official pre-order page has launched via NIN.com for Atticus Ross & Trent Reznor's score for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, directed by David Fincher. The score can be pre-ordered on iTunes or via the official site, and it comes with plenty of goodies, like "Immigrant Song" right now. First, the full on score is 39 tracks long. Reznor explains: "For the last fourteen months Atticus and I have been hard at work… the result is a sprawling three-hour opus that I am happy to announce is available for pre-order right now." Yes!

If you pre-order on iTunes, you'll get Karen O's "Immigrant Song" which was the badass track used in the first teaser trailer for Dragon Tattoo and might also be used in the opening of the film, or so I've heard. I'm also not allowed to tell you yet that this score is absolutely fantastic, but luckily there's a sampler available now. The soundtrack isn't fully released until December 9th, but if you drop your email on their official website you'll get access to a 6-track sampler (below), which gives you an idea of the wide range of sounds, instruments, and moods Reznor builds within this outstanding score. This will be quite be an experience.

From Reznor's blog: "We laughed, we cried, we lost our minds and in the process made some of the most beautiful and disturbing music of our careers. The result is a sprawling three-hour opus that I am happy to announce is available for pre-order right now for as low as $11.99." On their TGWTDT website they have multiple versions to pre-order, including a regular digital version for $12, the basic one, an HD Digital version, which is your choice of Apple Lossless or FLAC, for $14. Then there's the epic Deluxe version for $300 (yep, you read that right) that includes the full album on six pieces of 180 gram vinyl, a deluxe book package with metal cover, a razor blade necklace like Lisbeth wears that's actually an 8GB USB drive, and everything else you'd want Reznor to throw in. Pretty badass, limited only to 3000, if you think it's worth it.

I've already pre-order this as I'm anxious to listen to the entire thing, it's going to be a completely different experience heard by itself with headphones, rather than in the film. From what I've heard, I think it definitely shows that Reznor and Ross are indeed evolving and developing as composers after winning the Oscar for The Social Network. Can't wait for this to be released! Thankfully it's out weeks before The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo hits theaters on December 21st later this month. Who else is pre-ordering this?

If I had $300, I know EXACTLY where I'd spend it. Reznor and Ross can do no wrong. End of story.  The Academy might as well begin engraving those Oscars with Reznor's and Ross' names on them right now. Game over. Case closed. FIN.

Yep.  Pre-ordered the Digital version.  Can't wait for the movie.  Just finished the Dragon Tattoo book, and half-way though Fire.
