Sleepless Night

Finally! After earning rave reviews and copious amounts of buzz at both Fantastic Fest and the Toronto Film Fest, and even getting setup for a remake at Warner Bros, its taken right until today for Frédéric Jardin's action-thriller Sleepless Night to finally get a US distributor, which its been desperate for. Tribeca Film has announced that they have acquired US release rights and will be releasing it theatrically and on VOD in 2012, likely sometime in the earlier half of next year. This was one of my favorite films of TIFF and one that I can't wait for everyone to see, but I'm ecstatic that someone is finally releasing the original French movie.

We featured the full French trailer for Frédéric Jardin's Sleepless Night a few weeks ago, and I posted a glowing video blog during TIFF. I really loved the film, truly one of my favorites this year. Tribeca's Geoffrey Gilmore comments: "Sleepless Night is a thriller that is executed with such style and panache that it transcends the limits of the genre. The pace is exhilarating and the action is nonstop in this ingeniously plotted and thoroughly entertaining adventure. We're delighted to be collaborating with the filmmakers to bring this film to wider audiences." I certainly agree and I'm actually particularly happy to see it's getting a theatrical release, as that's the way it should be seen your first time, if at all possible, once it's out next year.

We'll keep you updated on release plans for Sleepless Night once they're set. Tomer Sisley (The Burma Conspiracy, Toi et Moi) stars as Vincent in the film, he's a great actor to watch out for. As the press release states, this "pulse-pounding French thriller [will] enthrall audiences in 2012" - stay tuned for more updates!
