Uma Thurman and Jessica Biel 'Playing the Field' with Gerard Butler

Yesterday we found out about a new project from director Gabriele Muccino (The Pursuit of Happyness) in the form of Adaline, a supernatural sort of romance. But today we have some casting additions to one of his more immediate projects. Variety reports Uma Thurman (Kill Bill) and Jessica Biel (Valentine's Day) have joined the cast of Playing the Field. The story follows a former pro soccer player (Gerard Butler) who finds himself dodging romantic advances from soccer moms after he agrees to coach his son's youth team in an attempt to bond with the boy. Leave it to someone like Butler to score the hot soccer moms and be a good father.
In the film, Biel will actually play Butler's ex-wife while Thurman will play one of the parents. It's not mentioned whether romance will blossom between Thurman and Butler, but it's probably a safe bet. Butler is also producing the film through his Evil Twins production banner and the film is slated to start production next month. I'm a little disappointed Thurman keeps taking on romantic comedy drivel like this, but considering she hasn't really made that great of a movie since Kill Bill Vol. 2, I can't say I'm surprised. As for Biel, this gig probably isn't as good as landing a role in The Dark Knight Rises (which she was shortlisted for previously), but oh well. Anyone interested?

Judging from the first two comments, I'd say the producers (of which Butler is one) made good casting calls. I'm hoping there's more here than meets the eye here, but despite some recent misses, Thurman has chops (as does Butler) so this has potential.

I love the cast, but I fell as if it is going to around the same block as "The Ugly Truth".

I like the cast, but feel as though it is going to go around the same block as "The Ugly Truth". I'm for more of a drama then comedy from this one.
