Video Interview: The 15-Year-Old Star of 'Super 8' - Joel Courtney

"I believe you." We don't often do a lot of interviews with actors, but with J.J. Abrams' Super 8 coming up, I had the opportunity to speak with 15-year-old Idaho-born actor Joel Courtney who stars in the film as Joe Lamb. I immediately said yes to speak with him, even before seeing the film, because from the trailers alone I just had a feeling he would not only be great in the movie, but a cool guy off screen. That's definitely the case, as I got to meet and interview Joel for 10 minutes on video, and he was awesome to chat with. We cover all the bases, in terms of how he got cast in Super 8, to what it was like working on set, so check it out!

As this is his first time acting, or even doing interviews, I asked Joel everything I could, since there's so much to talk about with Super 8 and the kids who star in it. The friendship the group had was obviously genuine and it definitely shows on film. Joel is a great guy and if he continues to stick with acting, I'm certain he's going to have a stellar career ahead of him, as he does an amazing job starring in his first movie.
Super 8 is both written and directed by visionary director J.J. Abrams, who started his career with "Lost" and "Alias" before directing Mission: Impossible III then Star Trek. This is produced by Steven Spielberg at Amblin Entertainment, as well as Relativity and Bad Robot. Paramount will be bringing Super 8 to theaters everywhere starting on June 10th this summer. looks like they kept Eliot from ET cryogeniclly frozen just so he could star in super 8 All these years later.

This movie is gonna be one of the best movies of the year! I really like the throw back feel it has, the style kinda reminds me of the goonies with some ET in there, just way more intense. Abrams and Spielberg make a good team... Can't wait to see it tonight!

I really enjoyed how the characters developed in this movie, the computer generated parts are just extra bonus.

Get Smart...... Â Oh Joel... Â Â Â lol. Â I love how genuinely excited he is with being in this new world of movie making and stuff. Â He was really good in the movie, too. Â Loved it.

He should stay away from catholic priests LOL. I really liked him in Super 8, reminded me of Marty from Back to the Future and of my own teenage years in the first half of last decade, that was a lot of fun. I feel so old now.

Joel seems really nice and smart and exited and it wouldn't be the same in super8 without him and Joel if you read this I am totally not a crazed fan but super8 is my fav movie also in the scene where you save alice you shouldn't have hugged and wasted time I mean there is a beasty buggy thing that eats humans you should have RAN!!!!!!!!!!!ha ha!anyways fantastic movie ! 🙂

I really think he should of asked him about Elle Fanning. Since they had a love growing in the movie. Hes so amazing. (:

I love this movie is scary and romantic. The boy is soo cute. FYI I love the movie that the boys and girl made the living and death is kul. Joel Courtney should keep acting. Super 8 rOcKs !!!!!!!!!
