Walton Goggins

Even more casting for the upcoming G.I. Joe sequel. Variety is reporting that actor-on-the-rise Walton Goggins, last seen in Cowboys & Aliens, Robert Rodriguez's Predators, and on FX's "Justified", has joined the cast of Jon M. Chu's G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, which is finally the official title of the sequel. As for who Goggins is playing, they only state his character's name - Warden Nigel James. We recently learned Bruce Willis would be joining the G.I. Joe 2 cast as well, playing General Joe Colton, the original G.I. Joe, in the film. Chu is rounding up some fantastic names for this cast, I'm actually getting interested in it, I must say.

G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation is being directed by Jon M. Chu (Step Up 2 & 3D, "The LXD", Justin Bieber: Never Say Never) from a script by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick. Channing Tatum returns as Duke, along with Ray Park as Snake Eyes and Lee Byung-hun as Storm Shadow. Other newcomers include Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock, Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, Ray Stevenson as Firefly, Joseph Mazzello as Mouse, Arnold Vosloo as Zartan, D.J. Cotrona as Flint, and RZA as the Blind Master. That's actually a solid cast, much better than Stephen Sommers' line-up in Rise of Cobra, that's for sure. Production begins later this month in New Orleans, as Paramount is planning to release this starting June 29th, 2012 next summer.

If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and get both seasons of Justified. It is some of the best TV you will ever see. The performances, dialog, action and direction are literally and demonstrably better than 75 percent of what Hollywood produces these days.

What started out as a terrible idea, is slowly becoming exciting. I just saw Step Up 3 not too long ago and think John M. Chu might actually do some cool stuff with this. The cast is pretty great too. I have to agree with Lebowski; Justified is an amazing show and can't wait to see more of Walton Goggins.

So long as they don't ruin Cobra Commander again then this might be good.
