Captain America TV Spots

"This is why you were chosen." Here's something to make up for those bland character posters from this morning. Despite being well into the summer, we haven't seen any actual 30-second TV spots for Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger besides the original Super Bowl spot and the trailer, but two of them have just popped up online on TheMovieBox and they're both pretty awesome. There's some small glimpses of action we haven't seen yet, like a train top sequence and a huge explosion. This is looking better the more we see, I'm pumped. Chris Evans stars as Steve Rogers, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter. Enjoy!

Watch the second new TV spot for Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger:

After being deemed unfit for military service, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers for a new top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero devoted to defending American ideals.

Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger is directed by Joe Johnston, who previously directed Honey I Shrunk the Kids, The Rocketeer, Jumanji, October Sky, Jurassic Park III, Hidalgo and The Wolf Man. The screenplay was written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (writers of Life & Death of Peter Sellers, You Kill Me and all three Chronicles of Narnia movies, from Lion, Witch, Wardrobe to Dawn Treader) and also Joss Whedon. Paramount is bringing Captain America to theaters starting on July 22nd this summer.

No, hes right. Call me an idiot as well, but the whole "oh hes a sickly young dude, so so small" is so over done and it looks completely fake. It would've been much better to leave him at least average height. It makes the entire movie look stupid....

Exactly! THANK YOU!

Comment removed. 😉

Sorry Buzzfunk, but they are simply following the comic, where Steve Rogers WAS this "sickly young dude, so small." You want to scream bloody murder at the filmmakers for simply following a comic with its origins in the 1940s?

Scopedog is correct. I tip my hat to those who decided to follow the comic. I'm sure there will be plenty of parts where the comic isn't followed, but if Steve was average height the military would have sucked him up for front line action.

Hopefully this does well in the box office, the character is among the best in the Marvel universe.

I really like the quality of these movies leading up to the Avengers. I enjoyed iron man, the hulk, thor and this looks good as well. I cant wait for the Avengers.

I hope the movie's going to be good. I'd surely watch it. Looks pretty cool.

I didnt know Capt. American was made by steroids, sorta changes the whole image of him 🙂

I reckon this will be funny and good too, the little tiny original Steve Rogers is a bit bizarre, but I reckon I can deal with that. At least Captain America wasn't made in Vietnam war times, because instead he'd just be on LSD shooting his own comrades.

Crapola on Jun 2, 2011

Well, it is a bit weird to see a frail, weak and small Steve Rogers...but that's just staying true to the original comic. And besides, it's Joe Johnston directing this film...why have so many forgotten that he also directed THE ROCKETEER, one of the best comic book-based films ever made?

Anonymous on Jun 2, 2011

22

I think the Rocketeer ruled too, I think I watched it at the right age. Everything worked, the retro 50's style was decent. I think the guy looks a little bizarre but I'm definitely not crying about it, the sets and the clothes look super good, which is a good start as sometimes in superhero films they get silly.

True dat!

Hey Scopedog, is that an old Gundam robot in your Avatar? At first I thought it was Leonardo from the turtles.

Heroes are made in America? That's a weird thing to say.

That wasn't me, I've been cloned! I was actually going to point out how horrible that line was.

Crapola on Jun 2, 2011

29

Sadly Crapola, it happened to me too.  Oh, and in regards to your question about the avatar...it's not a Gundam, but the main mecha from the classic anime VOTOMS, which is called...the Scopedog. It does have something in common with the mobile suits from GUNDAM--they were both designed by the same guy, Kunio Okawara.  (But I gotta admit...you are right, it would look like Leonardo from a quick glance...)

Hey Scopedog, I'm going to look that anime up. Also Googled the creator and am going to have a good look at some of his artwork, I see he had designs of RX-81LA, that's a favourite. Cheers for getting back man!

Here's another weird thing to say: Poopy is a good after dinner mint. Or, I like to punch farts. Look everyone! We're all making observations now! JK 😉

the perfect hero for the slacker generation...take some drugs, put him in a box and ...PRESTO!!!...Instant Super Hero...no work involved...think I'll take a pass on this one...

LOL!!I never thought of it that way! I'm still going to see this though...I wonder what the suprise might be at the end of the movie after the credits roll....

Before the super soldier experiment, he looks like one of the 50%-sized characters at the end of Innerspace.

I have wanted to see this made since I was 10!  As a child I loved the corny 1990 Captain America.  I can't wait to see this character finally given a serious treatment!
