"13, are you ready… to die?!" Get ready for some sweet Japanese action from master filmmaker Takashi Miike in his newest samurai action epic 13 Assassins. I know I use the word epic a lot, but I think this deserves it, especially once the trailer gets going and the 13 assassins start getting crazy. Magnet recently debuted the official US trailer on Apple, and the film is now available VOD. Cult director Takeshi Miike delivers a bravado period action film set at the end of Japan's feudal era in which a group of unemployed samurai are enlisted to bring down a sadistic lord and prevent him from ascending to the throne. Kick ass!

BADASS! It's good to see a samurai film that doesn't have over-the-top action/flying sequences and slow motion. Takashi Miike, do your stuff.

Incredible. There something to be said for a Samurai film. When they are done correctly (which is up for interpretation) they are some of the best films to watch...Period.

While this movie looks incredibly awesome, and I'll love it for sure, I still think "epic" doesn't describe this movie at all. You don't only overuse "epic," but you hardly use it correctly. Lol it doesn't bother me, but you mentioned the usage in the description, so whatever. But this movie does look really freakin' sweet.

That was an epic reponse in an epic post about an epic film during this epic Sunday. I wanted to see if epic could be overused, and I'll be damned if you're not right. π

That site lists a lot of famous japanese people who are perfectly fine, like Miyazaki and Hideo Kojima.

This movie is great! Stands up to the samurai films done by Kurosawa. If you don't have it already, get it! You won't be disappointed!
