Watch: Batman Tries Out Some Different Voices to Intimidate Enemies

Perhaps one of the most divisive elements among fans of Christopher Nolan's successful franchise starting with Batman Begins is the use of an insanely deep and essentially grizzly voice that Christian Bale employs when he suits up as The Caped Crusader. Some people think it's downright ridiculous and over the top while others seem to think it helps Bruce Wayne hide his identity thoroughly and even intimidates his enemies. However, before our hero settled on such a scary voice, he tried out some different versions just to make sure he had the right one. Check out some of The Dark Knight's voices that didn't make the cut below!
Here's Batman trying out some different voices from College Humor (beware of some salty language):
Kinda makes you think that maybe Christian Bale's throaty, bronchitis ridden voice was probably the best choice. However, John Malkovich as Batman would be pretty damn frightening, mainly because the actor is probably much scarier than Batman in real-life. Clearly Batman has some pretty impressive skills as an impersonator, and if this whole crime-fighting thing doesn't work out, I'm betting The Comedy Store has an open-mic night that might suit his impressions of Jerry Seinfeld, Kermit the Frog and Gollum even better. Frankly I'm disappointed he didn't try a Michael Caine voice. Oh well. Which one do you prefer?

Pretty funny. You know, I always thought the voice had more to it than just hiding his identity. It also exhibits his sort of split personality. You kind of have to be in order to be Batman. Think about it. He's kinda crazy, really.

I like Bale's Bats voice.

Me, too. Everybody gives him a bad rap for that, but I think it was a good move. You have to disguise your real identity in more ways than just covering the upper half of your face, and you have to intimidate. Give the thugs some scary stories to tell.

I've never heard a better Malkovich. Honestly.

Not particularly funny to me, but the exchange with the food cart guy was hilarious.

Honestly, this parody wasn't funny the first time. Not getting any better the 1000th. I love the Batman voice Bale uses and I do think it's quite effective. If it wasn't, I don't think all the little girls would complain. Stupid!
