For whatever reason, I just recently saw the first trailer for the 80's romp that is Take Me Home Tonight. Complete with the titular song by Eddie Money and a fantastic comedic cast featuring Topher Grace, Dan Fogler, Anna Faris and the always stunning Teresa Palmer, the trailer immediately sold me on this wild looking 80's party flick. Now the band Atomic Tom has made things interesting with a cover of The Human League's hit Don't You Want Me and a music video featuring the stars of of the film re-enacting great movies from the 80's like Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and more. Check it!
Here's the awesome music video which Cinematical brought to our attention:
There's also a red band trailer that makes this look like a great raunchy time machine back to the 80's, but an even better nostalgic trip comes from this video. I love seeing the vacuum cleaners used as proton packs, Dan Fogler pulling some serious moves as The Karate Kid, and one hell of a Michael J. Fox impression from Topher Grace for a reenactment of Back to the Future. All the fun in this music video and the trailers make me think this will be a great 80's fueled flick that could rival Animal House as a straight-up, chaotic party comedy. And if not, you'll have fun trying to name all the 80's movies from the music video. Enjoy?

The movie looked promising, but I saw it at a screening this week and boy oh boy, it's an embarrassing disaster. It's really low-brow humor and the 80's aesthetic and soundtrack is irrelevant to the movie. It's simply there to jump on the 80's revival bandwagon. The story tries to be 'real' and intimate, with job, marriage, 'what is my future?' anxieties, but each attempt is really poorly handled and doesn't feel like anything true. It's a massive fraud, full of phoned in 'thrills' like car thefts, cocaine, party fights, and the ever annoying Dan Fogler yucking it up. It does have some laughs in it, but man does it misfire a lot. Simply having Michael Biehn in a role, or throwing a DeLorean in the background does not mean '80's gold.' The movie does nothing with it. I could see some people calling it 'ok' but that's about it. Sidenote: if it really wanted to be an 80's movie, they would have shown Teresa Palmer half nude when the opportunity clearly presents itself. Instead, they cut to the next scene. Sure I would have liked some nudity, but it's not about that. It's the fact that a true 80's flick would have gone for it, ie Fast Times. Instead the only nudity we get is of a cougar in a raunchy, over blown scene... which reeks of 2000's teenage comedy. Still a fan of Topher Grace and Anna Faris... just wish they weren't in stuff as eye roll inducing as this.

I was already super excited for this movie, but this really puts it over-the-top. I seriously can't wait. Even if it's a disaster like lane says, I still know I'm going to enjoy it. Based off what I've seen here and the other trailers it really looks like the cast had a blast making it, and that goes a long way towards my enjoyment.

As a child of the 80's I really wanna see this movie, but this video made me wanna club a baby seal. With another baby seal. It wasn't even the video itself but the horrible way the song was sung. I couldn't tell if the singer was about to cry or if he jerked off with that annoying gasping whine he added to every other word. /rage

Ha ha ha. How many hipsters do you need in one place? It was quite terrible, but so was the 80's. 80's films were fine, but the 1980's itself was crap, but films can make people nostalgic to the point of being retarded about thing so I guess it's fine.

Alright, if you got them all - then tell me, what movie is she doing when she shows the Union sign? It's the only one I can't figure.
