Pixar's Brave Teaser

"The ancient's spoke of it… it is the heart of this fierce land." Disney has finally debuted the official teaser trailer for Pixar's Brave, their latest original creation and summer of 2012 offering. This teaser trailer, featuring the redheaded Princess Merida voiced by Kelly Macdonald, has been playing in front of Cars 2 all weekend, but it's still awesome to watch again, especially in high def. Getting a closer look at this teaser now, it's much easier to understand why this looks so good. And as a follow-up to this new lackluster sequel, it's great to have an original story once again, Pixar's first fantasy. It is the one thing we must always be…

Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Thompson). An unruly daughter and accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. This was originally being helmed by Pixar's first female director, Brenda Chapman (of Prince of Egypt), but they have since brought in co-director Mark Andrews (of the short One Man Band) to take over and finish up the movie. Disney has already scheduled Pixar's Brave for release next summer on June 22nd, 2012. Intrigued yet?

Looks unique - but not sure if they've over cooked the skin surface - kinda looks like a doll.

You didn't have to SHOUT that, but yes, Pixar's animation is some of the best you'll find anywhere, they always do amazing work!

Anyone have any insight as to why Brenda Chapman is no longer with the project? I am very curious as to the reasons as to her departure.

Neat. I have wicked hope for this one because, I'll admit, I really wanted Cars 2 to just die off quick and with little disturbance. Glad to see your ass back in gear, Pixar.

Um because she sucked?  sorry thats usually what happens when a director is changed or mixed up in the middle of a production.  The producers or production company isn't happy with the results thus far.  My guess - maybe a bit too much feminism gone wild that killed the broad appeal of the story?  Or maybe it was a la the Wolfman - full of sound and fury...

Anyone know who did the narration for this trailer?

Nevermind...now that I saw who Kevin McKidd is, I'm assuming it's him. I knew that voice sounded familiar.

I thought I was watching a standard video game trailer. Illumination is not working for me. Nor the Scottish bears. Whats with Pixar lately. No new exciting IPs. Cars 2. No incredibles 2. Toy Story 4 in the making...

I am glad that it is not some 'let's get together and beat the bad guys' family extravaganza. Legitimate characters in Legitimate scenarios. Smooth move, Pixar. You have me, yet.

bears use to live in England and Scotland (wales also but not sure) about 1000 years ago, it was a sub species of the brown bear

This may sound nuts, but I wonder how an adult cartoon movie would be by pixar. They got a little close with "Up" but imagine a pixar movie for the first time shot at only an adult demographic....could be some amazing potential there.

This is why we see Pixar movies.
