Green Lantern TV Spot

"If we don't defeat it, worlds will be annihilated." By now we've all seen that massive WonderCon clip from Green Lantern, which has pretty much turned the buzz around completely for this summer comic book movie. A new extended TV spot popped up on YouTube (via Bleeding Cool) with a bit of new footage, but more importantly, a re-organization of the introduction to the entire Green Lantern Corps. It's actually an impressive trailer, or TV spot, that's keeping me very excited for this. Ryan Reynolds stars and there's a glimpse of Mark Strong as Sinestro there, plus Geoffrey Rush voicing Tomar-Re, too. In brightest day…

Watch the new extended TV spot for Martin Campbell's Green Lantern:

A test pilot (Ryan Reynolds) is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping the peace within the universe.

Green Lantern is directed by veteran New Zealand filmmaker Martin Campbell, of Defenseless, GoldenEye, The Mask of Zorro, Vertical Limit, Casino Royale and Edge of Darkness previously. The script was written by Greg Berlanti ("Everwood", "Eli Stone"), Michael Goldenberg (Peter Pan, Order of the Phoenix), Michael Green ("Everwood", "Kings") & comic book writer Marc Guggenheim ("FlashForward") and is based on the DC Comics superhero. Warner Bros is bringing Green Lantern to theaters in 3D everywhere on June 17th!

Haters gonna hate but I bet one 3D movie ticket (an $87 value) that Green Lantern will be cool as fecal matter to see in theatres. I cannot understand how people are dismissing this movie but hyping themselves up for Thor.

I know im in the minority but all of the superhero movies look like shit. Its time to move on. Really. The last decade, has been nothing but superheros. Some good, some bad. In all, they all look ridiculous.

8

And the majority of them do GREAT in theaters! Deal with it.

Judasbarronx1 on Apr 22, 2011

9

And of course that means that they are good films....duh

He is just saying they make tons of cash, so why would they stop? You can move on, but there not going to stop.

I'm not crazy about the "dying purple alien" gag, I think it's in very poor taste. Paralax looks like Galactuc from F4.

Really, you must be smoking some good shit lol. In no way does he look like Galactus

Wow, besides the lame jokes and miscasting of Ryan "The Flash" Reynalds and not Bradely "The Hal Jordan" Cooper, this spot really sold it as having great potential to not completely suck. Fingers are cross. P.s. As for Marvel, Thor and Captain American look terrible. High class cheese and paint by numbers in a bad way. P.P.s. Although Thor casting might work, Thor should have been Alexander Skarsgård.

First class will poo on the rest of these films!

That may be the case. It's a 'wait-and-see' thingy...

I suspect much of the "Thor over GL" cheering is typical Marvel zombie stuff. The same people who have, many times on these boards, loved the idea of an Avengers movie but can't believe anybody would want a Justice League movie. Many fanboys feel they are "cool" because they like Marvel, but they don't like DC because, well, I'm not sure. Maybe because the company and some of its characters have been around longer? It's not "hip" to be into DC? Don't tell me it's the art or writing. That may have been true decades ago, but these days most popular artists and writers do stints in both companies. What about the characters? Do they really like Spider-Man that much better than Batman?

Maybe because DC Comic plots always continue in other comic titles?some of us don't want to have to buy 3 different comics just to finish a story-arc.And I dont get why someone like Batman with no powers whatsoever can go toe-to-toe with a universal threat like Darkseid. Vertigo comics have better suited characters for movies anyway, why doesnt Warner Brothers do more of those?

Um, are you overlooking: Secret Wars Secret Wars II Silent War Civil War World War Hulk Heroes Reborn etc.... Not saying DC hasn't oversaturated the market with crossovers(Blackest Night/Flashpoint, more), but to say that Marvel doesn't is pretty blind.

I still don't see him as Hal Jordan, it's more like an alternate Universe where Ryan Reynolds gets a ring, if he's like any of the earth lanterns he's more like Kyle then Hal, but really he's just a guy I've never seen before getting a ring. Doesn't change the fact that this is still awesome and I will NOT miss it, I expected if they ever made a movie version it would be different, It would be foolish to EVER expect a movie take on a book to be exactly like the book. And Sinestro's my favorite character anyhow, What I've seen so far Mark Strong plays him right.

Well your comment either makes no sense, or you tried to tweak a Back to the Future Part II quote about a certain shark. If the later is the case than HARDY HAR HAR you made a clever movie inspired comment on a film site, congrats. Enjoy your sarcastic recognition, it's all you're getting here.

I'm old-fashioned. I can deal with spandex, or even just old fashioned tights. I know many modern comics fans have issues with the idea of movie superheroes in tights, even as they read thousands of comics featuring characters with just those types of attire. Yeah, I know about the "What's on the page doesn't always work on screen" argument. Worked fine for Christopher Reeve and Toby Maguire though. Hal in tights would have been fine with me. But, since historically, his uniform (and that's exactly what a GL corpsman's outfit is) is created with ring energy, I think it works OK here, visually and thematically. Re: the mask-some fans don't: a) like the mask at all;or b) don't like the way it looks in the trailers. Not sure what to say about b), but as far as a) goes, Hal Jordan decided to wear a mask for reasons similar to those of Bruce Wayne and Peter Parker; makes sense to me. I don't understand younger fans' problems with costumes. They seem to want superheroes to look like SWAT teamers or GIs (like the very-compromised-to-ugly-Captain America movie costume). I guess this is for purposes of being "realistic." Once again, I hate to tell you guys, but people who fly around space with rings, or turn into big strong orange rocky guys, or shoot webs and swing around skyscrapers, aren't real. It's OK for them to be sorta fantastic, or astonishing, or incredible, or uncanny, or...get the point?
