"Don't flatter yourself, I don't like anybody." An international trailer has popped up via YouTube for a sci-fi thriller from Luc Besson called Lockout, starring Guy Pearce. It's another action-thriller with a sci-fi twist, about a high security prison orbiting in space that some badass convict must go into to save the president's daughter, played literally by the same girl taken in Taken, Maggie Grace, who we barely get to see. Yes, this is basically Escape from New York with Pearce and Peter Stormare, but it doesn't look half bad. The action sci-fi stuff at the end looks pretty damn cool, but I need to see this in high def. Take a look!
Watch the first international trailer for James Mather & Stephen St. Leger's Lockout, via YouTube:
A man (Pearce) wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the US is offered freedom if he can rescue the president's daughter (Grace) from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.
Lockout (or Lock-Out) is directed by French cinematographers James Mather & Stephen St. Leger, of only the short Prey Alone, making their feature directorial debut. The screenplay was co-written by Mather & St. Leger and filmmaker Luc Besson, who also executive produced the film at Europa Corp. FilmDistrict is releasing Lockout in the US, and has set an April 20th, 2012 release next year. Look good to anyone?

Did anybody else get the feeling that Guy Pearce was trying to act like Brad Pitt?

That was exactly what I was thinking after the first hit. Had a total "Tyler Durden" feel to it.

LOL, this was an epic trailer. I'm sold. That was a brilliant way to start the trailer. The Sci-Fi elements don't seem to mesh 100%, but I am so there for this. Looks great!

oh man reading the little description at the bottom made it sound cheesy, at "...an outer space prison"

Looks impressive! ie. Looks like a fairly big production. So a big thumbs-up in terms of first impressions.

The action sci-fi stuff at the end looks pretty average/bad, but the beginning of the trailer is damn cool eh.

For a second there, I thought it was a sequel to "Dante 01".

Looks like a badly done, seen-a-thousand-times SF B-movie from 1985. And by the way, until when will we have movies with sound in space? Bah.

sound exists in the oxygenated cabin, stupid comment. Trailer was pimp but it is very reminiscent of the scene in the basement in fight club. Guy pierce is a hero mind

I was obviously not referring to closed, oxygenated (...) environments, but about sounds in outer space (engine noises, explosions, artillery etc.). Stupid comment.

I love Guy Pearce. Luc Besson makes some solid films. Will definitely see this!

For those interested, this is their only other work, the short Prey Alone. I actually stumbled upon this not long after they released it...gotta say the tones and overall look of Prey Alone compared to this trailer are pretty similar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccw4OepTDUY
