Tower Heist Trailer

"We're not criminals, we don't know how to steal!" Universal has unveiled the first official trailer for Brett Ratner's Tower Heist, lead by Ben Stiller, the heist comedy set in/around on luxury high rise building in Manhattan. This stars out okay, seems like an interesting setup, but then it gets really stupid when Eddie Murphy steps on the scene, especially because he starts to dumb down everyone else too, even Matthew Broderick! The cast also includes Téa Leoni, Casey Affleck, Michael Peña, Alan Alda and even Gabourey Sidibe. Of course, since this is Brett Ratner again, you all know what to expect, so have fun and dive right in.

After the workers at a luxury Central Park condominium discover they've fallen victim to the penthouse billionaire's Ponzi scheme, they plot the ultimate revenge: a heist to reclaim what he took from all of them.

Tower Heist was directed by Brett Ratner, of Money Talks, Rush Hour 1-3, The Family Man, Red Dragon and X-Men: The Last Stand previously. The screenplay has numerous credits (in alphabetical order): Noah Baumbach, Bill Collage, Adam Cooper, Leslie Dixon, Russell Gewirtz, Ted Griffin, Rawson Marshall Thurber and a rewrite by Jeff Nathanson. Universal is bringing Tower Heist to theaters on November 4th this fall.

Wow, I didn't know Eddie Murphy picked up the roles that Chris Tucker turns down. How times have changed :S

Louis Plamondon on Jul 28, 2011

I laughed once, at the end. Good job Brett Ratner. Way to put a good cast to waste. And was the Oscar-nominated 'Precious' star even *acting* in this?

MithunOnThe.Net on Jul 28, 2011

Looks funny enough.  Especially for November matinee.  Not expecting Hangover or Bridesmaids.  I think Charlie Murphy and Dave Chapelle are in it too.

I think Charlie Murphy would have been a better fit...just saying. Also in addition to the "Like" button, is there one that "Makes Ben Stiller go away"? Again, just saying.

I thought the same thing about Charlie Murphy.   He should've had the role

EDDIE MURPHY! I hope this is the film that breaks him out of his awful slump he's been in recently. I remember when this guy could do no wrong.

D Block on Jul 28, 2011

I think you remembered wrong, what has he done that was remotely good besides "Red Dragon"?

Conrad Williams on Jul 28, 2011

He said MURPHY - not RATNER.

Ryderup on Jul 28, 2011

Agreed. It's awesome to see finally see him in role like his 80s stuff again, instead of the family-friendly limbo he's been stuck in for so long.

Shikaka on Jul 28, 2011

Eddie Murphy is the best thing about this flick.  Him and Pena.

Mojoz2000 on Jul 28, 2011

This looked like boring garbage untill the injection of what looks like a good return for Eddie

RhythmDave on Jul 28, 2011

If this does well, I bet we'll see Beverly Hills Cop IV soon.

M.K. Nielsen on Jul 29, 2011

Everybody seems to be enjoying the Eddie Murphy angle, but all I could think of in that seizure boy scene was, "Dear Lord, not Eddie Murphy playing the same old annoying character he always plays (Eddie Murphy)."  I used to think Eddie Murphy was great, but guess what, I'm not a child anymore.

JL on Jul 29, 2011

Ha Belize. That's where I'm from. Eddie is starting to look more and more like his Brother.

Ellz on Jul 29, 2011

Eddie Murphy hating, are we?

Maverick Pete on Jul 29, 2011

Yeah, why not?

mayor McCheese on Jul 29, 2011

It does look like a return to early-80s Murphy, and personally I really miss that guy.

Chris on Jul 29, 2011

"it gets really stupid when Eddie Murphy steps on the scene". au contrair mes ami... Really gets funny, it's a comedy, what´s wrong with you? In most cases i respect your opinion, but not in this one. I'm in.

D. on Jul 29, 2011

Sure. I guess.

Quanah on Jul 31, 2011

lol eddie is starting to look like his brother charlie

BeachBum850 on Jul 31, 2011

Charlie Murphy couldn't play Eddie's role because he already played it in King's Ransom. But I'm really disappointed because I didn't laugh once. Eddie Murphy as a "hoodlum"? Not my cup of tea. This honestly looks like the most forgettable movie ever.......EVER!!!!! Ratner should take this as a que to never walk near a movie set again.
