"If you really want to help your mother, you need a better understanding of exorcism." Paramount's low budget horror label Insurge Pictures has debuted the first trailer on Apple for The Devil Inside, another exorcism horror movie following up the likes of The Last Exorcism. In this one, Fernanda Andrade stars as Isabella Rossi, a woman who travels to Italy to uncover the truth about her mother, who apparently killed three people during her own exorcism, which is where that 911 call viral video came from. I actually like the concept and I'm glad they don't oversell the found footage aspect (it's more of a faux-doc). Check this out!
Watch the first trailer for William Brent Bell's The Devil Inside, in high definition from Apple:
Her entire life, Isabella believed her mother had brutally murdered three people because she was clinically insane. After being told the murders occurred during an exorcism she sets out to discover the truth. While documenting her experience with a film crew in Italy, she's involved in a series of unauthorized exorcisms.
The Devil Inside is being directed by William Brent Bell, of the indies Sparkle and Charm and Stay Alive previously. The screenplay is by Bell & Matthew Peterman. The cast includes Bonnie Morgan, Fernanda Andrade, Simon Quarterman, Preston James Hillier, Evan Helmuth, Suzan Crowley and D.T. Carney. The Devil Inside will arrive in theaters starting January 6th very early next year. Anyone interested in this yet?

It may be the way the trailer is edited, but it didn't look like a faux-documentary/found footage film to me. Still looks like it could be scary though.

yep, me too. i do love this stuff - when it's done well. the sense of immediacy and tension that comes with the (faux) realism and the lack of an orchestral blast safety net to telegraph the scares can really bring the adrenalin. there have been some very poor faux-documentary / found footage films, and i get that many people don't like this approach, but so far this one's ticking the boxes for me. colour me white as a sheet and grinning.

i hear ya! i'm one of those people who aren't a fan of "found footage" movies......the paranormal activity movies aren't good at all (to me). however (as you said) this can be great when done well - and this film looks to push the "scare" bar really high. i was caught off guard by how good this trailer was.......didn't expect that - which made it even better. hopefully, the full version comes through.

Yeah... I know. I'm saying that it looks more like a conventional film than a film that is supposed to look like a documentary.

People need to stop "finding" footage of this stuff. No, really. It's crap. Keep it to yourself.

Just don't watch it. I found Blair Witch Project to be one of the best horror movies since forever. I found the original Paranormal Activity to be incredibly terrifying. Your opinion is what you should keep to yourself you idiot. Just don't watch the movie.

Thoughts: This movie cheats. That last part is obviously footage from the Michael Jackson autopsy DVD. Seriously dudes, that's lame. Why is it that when all you have is a bible, suddenly everything looks like a possession? Not the bees! Oh no not the bees! If you listen closely, you can hear the possessed mother say, "Winning! I got demon DNA and dragon blood!" Nice touch.

Saw this last night. 1.) Can hand held filming a la Blair Witch PLEASE stop being a trend? 2.) Movie sucked completely. In our theater, I heard so many people say something like, "Are you shitting me?" when the movie ended. It was THAT bad. I get freaked out about stuff like this too (topic wise) and I shut my eyes just fine and slept like a baby last night. Boring!
