The Raid Teaser Trailer

Well that didn't take long at all. Only a few hours after seeing and immediately reviewing one of the "best action movies in years" at the Toronto Film Festival, an early teaser trailer for Gareth Evans' The Raid has been unveiled online via MTV and it's a must watch. The Raid is an Indonesian action film about an elite SWAT police squad that raids a drug lord's building, which it takes place entirely in, and it's awesome. Sony has also announced that Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda will be creating an "an entirely new musical score for the ultra-intense action picture's" US release. A perfect way to follow-up my immense praise - check it out!

Watch the first teaser trailer for Gareth Evans' The Raid, originally from MTV:

In the heart of Jakarta lies a rundown apartment infested with druggies and drifters, ruled by a ruthless drug lord. The apartment block is considered untouchable by even the bravest of police—until one early morning when, cloaked under dawn's darkness, an elite SWAT team, led by Officer Rama (Iko Uwais), raids the peril-filled structure. As Rama's squad races between the maze of rooms and floors, encountering a barrage of gunfire, machetes, and ruthless hand-to-hand combat around every corner, the stakes get higher and higher. The Raid is written & directed by Welsh filmmaker Gareth Huw Evans, of Merantau previously. This just premiered at TIFF, but is picked up by Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions for US distribution.

indiefilmfund on Sep 9, 2011

A trailer for a movie playing in Toronto, Canada can't be played in Canada.

Gill on Sep 9, 2011

I HATE regional restrictions....i mean its a movie trailer isint the point to get people to watch the trailer so they want to see the movie.

Meh.  Cool action, but it just looks like one long action scene.  I'm not intrigued.

Michael McRorey on Sep 10, 2011

Daniel Vu Tran on Sep 10, 2011

I'll wait for the American remake in 2014.

POVwriter on Sep 10, 2011

Am I the only one thinking what this film is actually about?  Looks like a platform video game with bosses on different levels.  Is this where action filmmaking is going?  A load of crash, bang, wallop... but no soul.

JakeNYC on Sep 10, 2011

Does every good film need to have soul or thrilling script? That's boring. What I really love in cinematography is DIVERSITY.

Are we not allowed to have mindless action movies like this? Every movies doesnt have to be an Oscar contender. Just enjoy this.

Yaboykel on Sep 12, 2011

HOLY CRAP! Crazy gun action ala old school John Woo with PENCAK SILAT???!?!?!? and real silat from the looks of it, straight destruction vs extended sparring...oh man.. I have to see this!

lando on Sep 10, 2011

Daaaaaauym. I need to see this badly.

ur_babys_daddy on Sep 10, 2011

Brian on Sep 11, 2011

Meh.  Whats the big deal?  Seriously?  Not sure I get what you all are going nuts over.  John woo beats this crap any day.

ff on Sep 11, 2011

Since when? He reinvented the genre, but this is seems hyper kinetic without the slow mo and flying doves and one vs hundred with unlimited clips.

ur_babys_daddy on Sep 11, 2011

No way

Dukenukem150 on Sep 11, 2011

Looks neat. Not extraordinary, though. And the "Linkin Park soundtrack'' is a huge turnoff.

Cracky on Sep 11, 2011

Umm... Yeah. I'm definetely going to see this. Anyone who doesn't want to see what should be an amazing action film should just rent the Notebook and stay in that day. Your tub of ice cream is optional....

That 1 Guy.... on Sep 12, 2011

Can you imagine giving a Hollywood budget to these people?

Gianni Persello on Sep 12, 2011

Anonymous on Oct 9, 2011
