Men in Black 3

"Who are we? We are no one." Columbia has unveiled the first teaser trailer this morning (via YouTube) for Men in Black 3, the latest sequel in the MIB sci-fi comedy series, once again starring Will Smith as Agent J, and introducing Josh Brolin as the younger Agent K. Oh and "Agent K" is definitely still in this, Tommy Lee Jones' K, only briefly though. We've heard this sequel has gone through a lot of production problems and it shows, this looks a bit rough, almost made-for-TV. What happened? The first movie was so damn good, how did it devolve into this? Give it a shot anyway, I truly hope it turns out better next summer.

Watch the first teaser trailer for Barry Sonnenfeld's Men in Black 3, originally via YouTube:

Men in Black III is once again directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, also of the first two. This newest sequel is said to be set mostly in the year 1969 and involves Agent J (Will Smith) time-traveling back to that year, where he meets up with a young Agent K (Josh Brolin) for some plot involving, most likely, our landing on the Moon. The cast also includes Emma Thompson as Agent Oh, Alice Eve as a young Oh, Bill Hader, Jemaine Clement, Rip Torn and Michael Stuhlbarg. It was shot in 3D and Columbia currently has it scheduled to hit theaters starting May 25th next summer. You can visit the official site: TheMenInBlackSuitsAreReal.com.

I don't see anything great, but I'll check it out since I'm a fan of the first one (second was okay). But I disagree with the made-for-tv movie look, have you seen a made for tv movie, those things look horrible, this looks pretty good in its production value.

I hope that is an unpolished version and not the final product. I was mildly interested in this but that made me feel sad inside...

I'll see this. Anything will be better than MIB2.

After the second one followed the exact blueprint of the first one I kinda lost faith in the idea of this as a franchise, but I've got to admit this one seems to be rubbish in an entirely unique way

You can't tell much of the plot from the trailer, but it looks decent.

Nothing special, but I'll end up seeing it.  (not expecting TDKR)

Looks OK. Horrible trailer though.

J: K? K: How do you know my name? That is Funny! I can't wait for the second trailer now! There might not have been too much shown in this trailer, but that is because this is only a teaser trailer. I expect a second trailer to be released with in the next 1 to 4 months from now for Men in Black 3. So, hang in there folks, we WILL see a funnier trailer then this released for Men in Black 3, with more footage and more actors and actress shown in it from the new movie.

It will be entertaining. Its a 'hate to like it' appeal of Will Smith. This trailer is atrocious though. The "joke" with the spray paint alien at the start was just a face palm.

Still a lot of post-production left. The CG needs some more polish.

I have seen this time jump before, like 2 years ago http://vimeo.com/10035603

Only if Will Smith does a rap video with dancing aliens, that was the most awesome combination of hardcore gangster rap and low budget scifi I have ever witnessed.

Crapola on Dec 12, 2011

30

Will Smith is definitely not hardcore gangster rap. The man doesn't even swear in his songs. I know you were joking but I feel compelled to throw this out there.

Josh Taylor on Dec 12, 2011

31

Yep Josh, he's properly on a family rap tip. Summertime is still a favourite tune, at least until I got more into the Kool & The Gang version. Maybe it's a Scientology thing the cheesy rap stuff.

1.21 jigawatts?

Chris Amaya on Dec 12, 2011

33

Come on! It doesn't look that bad!

Leinergroove on Dec 12, 2011

34

I see what you mean as far as "made for TV" goes when I look at the sets.  They look much more bland and lifeless than in the original, or even those in MIIB.

Jediness on Dec 12, 2011

35

Josh Brolin's impression is spot on...For those 2 seconds. I didn't think the trailer was that badly cut. We've seen worse on here.

Quanah on Dec 12, 2011

36

Emma Thompson is the new Rip Torn? Will Smith turns his smugness up to 11 in this trailer.

rennmaxbeta on Dec 12, 2011

37

Tommy Lee Jones is an alien. He's looked the same age for 20 years. Also, I'm down. I liked the weird fun of the first two.

serke on Dec 12, 2011

38

I'm taking on all bets, everybody put your money in now. Since he's traveling back in time he'll see a younger version of himself played by none other than.....drum roll........Jaden Smith!!!!! sad indeed.

Yikes.. Looks very straight to DVD. and why is the flash blue and not red anymore?

Was that Hugo Weaving as the alien in the start?
