Contraband Trailer

"You will never find that money!" Universal has debuted the official trailer for Contraband, a new action-thriller starring Mark Wahlberg that yes, is actually a remake of another foreign film, from Iceland, called Reykjavik-Rotterdam. The cast includes Kate Beckinsale, Ben Foster, Giovanni Ribisi, Lukas Haas and J.K. Simmons. It's one of those crime movies about a former criminal-turned-good who has to do one more job to save his brother, who botched up another job. Of course, everything goes wrong and it all gets crazy, but the last half of the trailer actually looks pretty damn cool. Otherwise, I'm not so sure. Fire it up!

Chris Farraday long ago abandoned his life of crime, but after his brother-in-law, Andy, botches a deal for his ruthless boss, he's forced back into doing what he does best — running contraband — to settle the debt.

Contraband is directed by Icelandic filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur, an actor and director of films including 101 Reykjavík, The Sea, A Little Trip to Heaven, Jay City, Brúðguminn and Inhale previously. This is a remake of the 2008 film Reykjavik-Rotterdam, which Baltasar Kormákur also appeared in, featuring a new screenplay adaptation by Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners). Working Title & Universal will release Contraband in theaters everywhere starting on January 13th, 2012, early next year. Anyone interested in seeing this?

Kate Beckingsale is hot indeed. Marky Mark is meh as always. This is definitely a Redbox rental.

Thinking GONE IN 60 SECONDS... the Mark Wahlberg addition. I like it.

Goofy accents from Ribisi and Simmons aside, I agree completely. I'm all over this...even if it does look like trite popcorn fun:) Oh yeah, and the world needs more Ben Foster!

The more Foster the better.

Xerxexx on Sep 29, 2011

Couldn't agree more with all of the above... but the afformentioned accent makes me want to shoot myself.

I just can't buy Mary Mark as a tough guy. Never could. Always seemed forced.  Every time I see him I keep expecting him to suddenly bust out a move and start singing "good vibrations."

Love the music.  Great remix of that old Zombie Nation song at the end

PatientZero on Sep 29, 2011

Funny to see Giovanni Ribisi delivering the exact same lines, about killing a guy's younger brother if he doesn't pay, that Christopher Eccleston delivered about killing him in Gone In 60 Seconds. *Insert obligatory comment about just how ridiculously hot Kate Beckinsale still is*

Jake on Sep 29, 2011

Exactly what I was gonna write HA!
