The Big Year Trailer

"One of us has to beat this SOB!" Fox has finally unveiled the official trailer on Apple for The Big Year, the bird-watching comedy starring a trio of comedian actors that should guarantee this is a hit - Owen Wilson, Steven Martin and Jack Black. We've been waiting to see this trailer for a while, and it does look funny, like a mix of a road trip comedy and just something wacky entirely. The supporting cast includes Rashida Jones, Rosamund Pike, Anjelica Huston, Joel McHale, Jim Parsons and many more. If you're looking for some comedy fun, then fire up this trailer! This looks like your typical comedy, but it's the cast that sells it.

Three avid bird watchers compete to spot the rarest birds in North America at a prestigious annual event.

The Big Year is directed by Oscar winning filmmaker David Frankel, who directed Miami Rhapsody, The Devil Wears Prada and Marley & Me, as well as some episodes of "Sex and the City" and "Entourage". The screenplay was written by Howard Franklin (Someone to Watch Over Me, The Man Who Knew Too Little, Antitrust) adapted from Mark Obmascik's 2004 book fully titled The Big Year: A Tale of Man, Nature, and Fowl Obsession. Fox is bringing The Big Year to theaters everywhere starting on October 14th this fall.

Wow.  I didn't even crack a smile the entire time.  Looks like yet another "comedy" that squanders a good cast.

I stared with a smile and as it went on (and on and on) it slowly just faded into a blank face....

Troy Ollis on Sep 7, 2011

Same here, I love these guys especially Steve Martin, but just meh.

Clare on Sep 7, 2011

Love all the people in this, but it almost feels like it's the caliber of a romantic comedy, just without the romance. Cheesy and cheap physical humor.

Ben Nesvig on Sep 7, 2011

Yeah... I'm .. not feeling this.

Nick Sears on Sep 7, 2011

and that sucks, cause the First Look photos looked great.

Nick Sears on Sep 7, 2011

Eat Pray Love - guy/trio version, sucks big time!

Joselio on Sep 7, 2011

Looks like a chick flick but for guys. Meh.

Shige on Sep 7, 2011

Steve Martin and Jack Black? Ought to be funny, definitely watching this!

BigChad on Sep 7, 2011

Mediocre at best.

Quanah on Sep 7, 2011

the bucket list with THREE guys!

Brian on Sep 7, 2011

From the cast alone, this looks like it will make a billion dollars.

Teuta on Sep 7, 2011

It was funny when it was about bird watching, then they threw in the quirky romantic comedy and ruined the feeling.

JT on Sep 7, 2011

So what the hell is this about - looks totally lost.

Dom on Sep 7, 2011

Looks laughable enough in daft sort of way. I'll watch it online when it goes straight to DVD.

Crapola on Sep 7, 2011

Thought it looked fun enough, could really go for something that appears to be not just another R rated, baby poop, sex raunch comedy.

Derek D on Sep 7, 2011

Totally agree with Brian here, isn't this just...The Bucket List with one more guy?, can't even compare it to the Bucket List!

Robert on Sep 7, 2011

The trailer sold me on the helicopter scene but lost me near the end...that being said I wanna see it.

Xerxexx on Sep 7, 2011

Sweet! as far as meh I wanna see it! but then I'm not a big Douche Bag!

I don't see what everyone's problem is here, this looks great! It has a great cast and I don't expect it to be an Oscar winning film, so yeah

Being a Bird-Watcher or Birder would help one understand the humor in this competition. I can't wait for the movie!

jean pell on Sep 10, 2011

steve martin doin his dance at the end

Kenji on Sep 10, 2011

The bucket list was aleady done...why have a Pt2?

Triston on Sep 12, 2011

This movie is a great one! Since I also love bird watching, I got interested in watching the film. And I noticed that they used Kowa BD series binoculars, which I also use.  Extraordinary quality and ease of use in a binocular built for use by all birders and outdoor enthusiasts. Right choice!
