How do you find an enemy who is hidden right before your eyes? A fantastic new teaser trailer, the first we've ever seen, for Let the Right One In director Tomas Alfredson's new film Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy has hit the web thanks to The Guardian (via Awards Daily). This is his new British spy thriller starring a hell of a cast: Gary Oldman and Tom Hardy, along with Oscar winner Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Ciarán Hinds, Stephen Graham and Benedict Cumberbatch. It's only a quick first trailer, but it's an awesome glimpse of what's to come, and it looks like it's going to be quite a fascinating vintage spy thriller.
Watch the first UK teaser trailer for Tomas Alfredson's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy via Guardian:
Set in the aftermath of the Cold War, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, and described as a "breathtakingly ordinary" anti-James Bond, this tells the tale of a big spy hunt within the highest echelons of the British Secret Intelligence Service. Gary Oldman plays the lead role of George Smiley (once played in the 1979 TV mini-series by Sir Alec Guiness) a small, podgy spy who is charged with unearthing a mole. The film is an adaptation of John Le Carre‘s classic spy thriller that follows a British Intelligence operative who delves into the world of Cold War espionage. Focus Features has this scheduled for release November 18th in the US.

Looks great with a great cast. This is how trailers should be done, show enough to peak interest and keep it around 1min

Really hope this draws award attention toward Gary Oldman. It really is a crime he hasn't earned an Oscar yet.

Totally agree, Oldman is one of the most versatile actors of our generation and it would be awesome to see him finally land an Oscar

I agree considering some of the people who have, but he doesn't do oscar bait films, like for example Sean Penn or Day lewis. Not in the last few years anyhow. Although I saw him play Beethoven ten years ago in Immortal beloved and I thought he should have at least been nominated, same for political film the Contender, but no,nothing. Johnny Depp is another actor whi has been overlooked for some of his films,in particular the Libertine. This film looks really good.

agreement all around. in that respect, he's the perfect choice to follow on from another highly versatile and accomplished actor who last played this character in the 70s TV adaptation, the one and only Alec Guinness. plus, he's in this with Mark Strong, John Hurt, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, too... wow, just wow.

No kidding. I don't think he's ever been nominated either. Criminal that he hasn't. There are actors out there (in few numbers) who are spot on nearly every performance. Oldman is part of that elite class. I've also enjoyed the way he can play a sentimental favorite who you grow to love, or the evil villain you can loathe!

Love it. That piece of music, whatever it is, matches the clips/edits perfectly. This is how you make a trailer.

It's The wolfman suite from the wolfman by Danny Elfman. I was waiting for Anthony Hopkins to pop up, but alas

Damn, that's a shame. I was really hoping that the music was original for this film... it works so well!

YES. I've been waiting for this trailer! And what an awesome trailer it is. Loved the tease of it, and the music. Danny Elfman could make a 2 hour movie about painting a room thrilling. I read up on this movie after I saw it on Gary Oldman's Imdb page. One of my all time favorite actors. And I cannot agree more, this cast is stellar.

As visual style of this trailer reminds of how influential Spielberg and Janusz Kaminski's work in "Munich" may have been.

Looks friggin awesome. On a sort of off topic note, movies like this make me wish they would adapt the entire Mitch Rapp series to the silver screen.....so much potential in those books for amazing spy movies.

Looks intruiging. Wasn't this a mini-series in the 1970's with Alec Guiness as well?

This book blew my fucking mind as a teenager, Le Carre's prose is just icy cold and awesome. And what a goddamn cast! I'm in.
