"Do we want to go down?" Lionsgate has finally debuted the first teaser trailer, via Yahoo, for The Cabin in the Woods, the long-lost horror film created by Joss Whedon & Drew Goddard that was shot in '09 and has been in the can waiting to be released ever since. The cast of doomed kids in this movie includes Chris Hemsworth, looking fairly young, Jesse Williams, Kristen Connolly, Anna Hutchison and stoner Fran Kranz, with Richard Jenkins in there somewhere, but he's not in the trailer. We've been hearing about this for a while, so how does it look? Quite awesome, I must say, I'm very curious. Enter now!
Watch the first trailer for Drew Goddard's The Cabin in the Woods, via Yahoo:
A group of five friends going on a quiet cabin retreat scratch the surface of something so massive and horrific that they can only begin to fathom what might possibly be going on just as time quickly runs out.
The Cabin in the Woods is the feature directorial debut of Whedon protege Drew Goddard, screenwriter of Cloverfield and Robopocalypse, as well as work on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Alias" and "Lost" for J.J. Abrams. The original screenplay was co-written by Joss Whedon ("Buffy", "Angel", "Firefly", Serenity, The Avengers) & Drew Goddard. This was originally shot in early 2009, but is just now, finally, getting a release from Lionsgate. Cabin in the Woods is scheduled to hit theaters on April 13th, 2012 next spring. You in?

I have been incredibly excited for this to come out ever since it was announced (huge fan of Joss here) but this was NOTHING like what I was expecting. And I'm even more excited to finally see it now.

The scariest part for me was the guy pacing outside the bedroom window and the part where Dalton's brother says he doesn't like how Dalton walks around at night...the rest was meh.

Yeah, what in the hell is going on? Honestly went into this wanting to not like it (don't ask why), and I came out wanting to know more. Looks like a fun ride, can't wait! Scared that future trailers may tell us too much. I think I'll limit myself from here on out.

Oofa, I thought I was interested in this film until seeing the trailer. I was expecting a low budget horror film not some over the top effects-riddled big budget mess of a movie, which may or may not feature Rob freaking Zombie on the soundtrack.

Trailer showed WAAAAAAAAY too much, you should have put up a warning Alex 🙂 But it does look like a fun ride, sorta "Evil Dead Theme Park-ish" ? 🙂

"A group of five friends going on a quiet cabin retreat scratch the surface of something so massive and horrific that they can only begin to fathom what might possibly be going on just as time quickly runs out." OK, Billington? You really need to read this. https://pantherfile.uwm.edu/wash/www/zinsser.htm The book's very good, too.

"You think you know the story" Errm, yeah. Kinda. Script reviews for this have been freely available for ages. And if the film is how they describe, we're looking at one seriously wacked-out film.
