War Horse UK Trailer

"You have to look forward, or you'll never getting home." An absolutely wonderful new trailer for Steven Spielberg's War Horse has debuted over on Empire that's a must watch for anyone remotely excited for this. It looks like definite Best Picture material, like a wonderful Amblin-driven journey about a boy and his horse and the incredible war that comes between them. The young Jeremy Irvine plays Albert, with his horse Joey, co-starring Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch, Emily Watson, David Thewlis and Toby Kebbell. I love the music, I love how epic this looks, I cannot wait, so many treats coming this fall. Enjoy!

Spielberg's War Horse, based on Michael Morpurgo's novel which also became a stage play, was adapted by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot) and Richard Curtis (Pirate Radio). This follows a young man named Albert (played by newcomer Jeremy Irvine) and his horse, Joey, and how their bond is broken when Joey is sold to the cavalry and sent to the trenches during World War I. Despite being too young to enlist, Albert still heads to France to save his friend. The cast also includes Tom Hiddleston, Emily Watson, David Thewlis and Niels Arestrup. Disney/Touchstone will release War Horse in theaters starting on Christmas, December 25th, this year.

I'm in.

I want to see it for the WWI aspect. I'm sure that the depiction of that nasty war will be amazing. But I think I'll be rolling my eyes a lot at the boy/horse relationship. And of course, I'm sure I'll be fighting back the inevitable 'lump in the throat', since this obviously is trying to be tear-jerker. I'm sure it will be good.

Hahahahahahahahahaha. I laughed to see that young soldier going into battle with pictures he drew not of his mom, dad, or family...but of his horse! hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. I feel a wittle tear coming...

I'll be waiting for the part where the horse turns into an alien, or gets abducted by aliens, or aliens invade. I'll also be waiting for the special edition in 5 years where they replace the horse with scenes of Tom Cruise taken straight out of War of the Worlds.

Horse audience would be delighted I am sure.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like it's trying too hard.

Phillip Gockel on Oct 4, 2011

Just a trailer. We'll see.

Quanah on Oct 4, 2011

completely agree.

grimjob on Oct 5, 2011

Heavy handed emotionally sappy. Spielberg hasn't changed. No thanks.

Yan on Oct 4, 2011

That's my feelings exactly. The new show with his named tacked on, Terra Nova, is a perfect example of this.

What's that piece of music from?

Two words: Hell No

Is it just me or does the main character kid seem a bit doofy?

HJ on Oct 4, 2011

I'll take sappy. The world needs a little sappy. We're all bottled up pretending to be tough all the time. I'll watch this and use it as an excuse to have a good cry and then go back to talking about my penis and football.

Quanah on Oct 4, 2011

this trailer should be ground up and made into Jello

I was laughing a little inside at that trailer. That war was brutal, many have compared it to hell on earth. It looks like mince with a giant slab of cheese thrown in. I'm all for sappy films, bring em on, but that just looks like a film from one of those channels old ladies watch that have 'made for tv' films about abusive alcoholic husbands and drug addict children. Anyway so close to 10 million people died in the conflict, who cares about a horse.

Crapola on Oct 4, 2011

They should shoot it in 4 by 3, so I can watch it on my TV Radio.

Bones on Oct 4, 2011

Ugh. More soppy, melodramatic Stealberg crap. Pass!

Seafoodsnacker on Oct 4, 2011

This horse is sooooo gonna die in the movie hahahaha

TTumMM on Oct 5, 2011

ET burst out of the horse's chest while they're having lunch.

Helga Pataki on Oct 6, 2011

Yes Spielberg seems desperate here - tugging VERY hard to get the emotions going - how do we know horses think like humans, have the same emotions as us??

Dom on Oct 5, 2011

it looks fuggin stupid..

Circusninja25 on Oct 5, 2011

is this like Lassie with a horse?? looks like a horsefest to me. no thanks.

ItsME on Oct 5, 2011

Be brave.
