Sundance 2011 is about to kick off, so it's a trip down memory lane for me to watch this, since Skateland premiered at Sundance last year and that's where I saw it. The film is a vintage 80's coming-of-age drama starring Ashley Greene, Shiloh Fernandez, A.J. Buckley and Haley Ramm and more. It follows a group of kids and explores how their lives change when the local roller rink shuts down. It's actually pretty good, but nothing incredible, but this new official trailer from MTV sells it very well. In fact, I want to see this again, looking forward to rewatching it. Oh but watch out, because Ashley Greene will melt your heart.
Watch the official US trailer for Anthony Burns' Skateland from YouTube:
In the early 1980s, in small-town Texas, dramatic events force a 19-year-old skating rink manager to look at his life in a very new way. This also stars Finch Nissen, Taylor Handley, James LeGros and Brett Cullen.
Skateland is directed by first-time feature filmmaker Anthony Burns, who attended Southwest Texas State University, and co-wrote the screenplay with brothers Brandon and Heath Freeman, who also co-produced the film. This first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010, and later played at the SXSW, Dallas, Seattle, Indianapolis and Edmonton Film Festivals. Freestyle Releasing is bringing Skateland to limited US theaters starting on March 25th this spring. Look good? Visit the official website or their official Facebook.

Ever since Deadgirl I can't watch Shiloh Fernandez in a film with a normal storyline. It's one of those, "I know where you've been..." situations.

This movie is so bad. Saw it SXSW, feels like all the worst parts of high school made by the kids you couldn't stand.

If I've said it once, I've said it 10 times on this site. Fuck MTV. What is it with their policy of not showing trailers to Europe? The film looks balls anyways. I'm going to set my house on fire.

what 80's universe did this come from? Nothing about this trailer says 80's eccept the skates.
