One of the first trailers for one of the new movies from the new DreamWorks, the Spielberg/Snider one, is for their period drama The Help that just debuted this afternoon on AOL Moviefone. Written and directed by Tate Taylor, starring Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Jessica Chastain, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sissy Spacek, Octavia Spencer, Allison Janney, and many others, The Help is a "timeless and universal story about the ability to create change." Based on Kathryn Stockett's novel about three different, extraordinary women in Mississippi in the 1960s who start an unlikely friendship. Check out the first official trailer below.
Watch the first official trailer for Tate Taylor's The Help, in high def from YouTube:
A provocative and inspiring look at what happens when a southern town's unspoken code of rules and behavior is shattered by three unique women (Spencer, Stone, Davis) who strike up an unlikely friendship.
The Help is both written and directed by Mississippi-born newcomer filmmaker Tate Taylor, of only the comedy Pretty Ugly People previously. This is an adaptation of Kathryn Stockett's 2009 novel of the same name. The Help was co-produced by Reliance Big Ent, 1492 Pictures, Participant Media, Harbinger Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures, and is being released by Disney starting August 12th this summer. Thoughts?

Great trailer even though I feel like I just saw the entire film. Nice to see Emma Stone getting more work.

I love love LOVE Emma Stone, but I'm not sure she's right for the role. Guess I'll have to wait and see! Looks really good.

Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard are amazingly gorgeous. These sensual young women are indescribably beautiful.

Looks decent, that time period fascinates me. Wasn't even that long ago. I like Octavia Spencer too. DwainIBe did point out that you might not need to watch the film as it has been nicely condensed into a trailer movie.

Octavia Spencer... YES. This film may cater to white guilt but damned if it's not going to feature some powerful performances. And Sissy Spacek? WHAT???? This'll be ridiculous. (and by that i mean realllly good.)
