"I am a Southerner and a devoted mother, but no assassin." With Sundance still in full swing this week, it's the perfect time to debut the official trailer for Sundance founder Robert Redford's newest feature film The Conspirator, which played at the Toronto Film Festival last year. This period piece stars Robin Wright as Mary Surratt, the lone female charged as a co-conspirator in the assassination trial of Abraham Lincoln. The cast also includes James McAvoy as her lawyer, plus Justin Long, Evan Rachel Wood, Alexis Bledel, Kevin Kline, Tom Wilkinson, Toby Kebbell and Danny Huston. This actually looks really good, check it out!

Come ooon! You can't be serious! This is an historical event. Your complaint is the same as if there was a WWII movie and I "spoil" the ending saying the nazis lose! haha

I'm not from the states and I don't know that much about Lincoln and his assassination like you do (heck, I don't know any details about that). You didn't think there were foreign readers on this site, did you? And you compare WWII with this?? WW was everywhere, Lincoln was in U.S. I don't expect you to know about Ceausescu and how he was killed... Forget it... this is going in the wrong way. I'm not mad, it's just a movie and it's still worth watching... you could have said spoiler alert though 😀 No hard feelings. Peace!

What's your fucking problem, Nosync? Don't think U.S. history=world history, fucking retard! Excuse me if I don't know about your beloved president. And what's wrong with LOTR??? You have some serious issues. I think your favorite movie is Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Have a nice jerk off, dumbass.

Spoiler alert Leinergroove! The film looks great, though it definitely implies that she wasn't involved and I think historians debate that heavily. Should be a fun movie to see.

That's what I was gonna say. Pretty sure most historians say she aided Boothe. But then again, I could be wrong. Definitely will watch, I love this topic.

It's not Avatar trailer music. It's trailer music written by Two Steps From Hell. It's been used in many films before Avatar and will be used in many after this one.

Filmed in Savannah and Fort Pulaski in Georgia. They built a big gallows for the hanging scene. You can do a Google Image search.

Lincoln kills 600,000. Wilkes kills 1. Yet Redford makes a movie about Booth and not about Lincoln, the mass murderer? Why not make a movie of how Lincoln was guilty of treason? Article Three of the United States Constitution: Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them...
