Turn off the lights. FilmDistrict unveiled a last minute red band trailer via Twitch for Troy Nixey's Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, the Guillermo del Toro-produced haunted house flick that hits theaters tomorrow. Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce star, along with Bailee Madison as the young girl, who is terrorized by teeth-hungry little creatures, like the one seen above, that crawl out of a chamber in the basement. I've seen the movie and it's definitely a good choice if you're looking for some horror this weekend, but if you're not hooked yet, maybe this trailer could convince you a little spook might be fun. Yea, those lil' guys are freaky!
Watch the final red band trailer for Troy Nixey's Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, via Twitch:
Here's the quick synopsis: A young girl (Bailee Madison) sent to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) discovers creatures in her new home who want to claim her as one of their own.
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark was directed by up-and-coming filmmaker and comic book artist Troy Nixey, of only the Latchkey's Lament short previously. The script was co-written by Matthew Robbins (Dragonslayer, Mimic, The Concert) and Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth The Hobbit). This is a remake of the 1973 TV movie Don't Be Afraid of the Dark directed by John Newland starring Kim Darby. FilmDistrict, who took over for Miramax, is finally releasing Don't Be Afraid of the Dark on August 26th this weekend.

Saw it yesterday, at the Fantasy Filmfest here in Nürnberg, Germany. It was the Opener for the Festival and a pretty enjoyable watch. What i really liked was the Atmosphere, which is constantly chilling. Well made movie, even if it doesn´t reinvent the horror genre. Definitely worth watching.

Why would you put a picture that spoils what the creatures look like on the title page? Who does that?
