"See ya at the race!" Disney has released one final theatrical trailer for Pixar's Cars 2 today on Apple. We've already seen a lot, and I mean a lot, of trailers for this movie already, but why not one more? There's more of a focus on the story in this and lots of time with/the voice of Michael Caine, who plays Finn McMissile, the secret agent spy-car that also gets rolled up in this international story with Lightning McQueen (voiced again by Owen Wilson). I'm still looking forward to this, I think it looks like a sequel that could knock the socks off the first one, and that is exactly what this series needed. Give it a view below!

Lightning and Mater travel around the world for the Race of Champions, but when Mater saves the life of a British secret agent named Finn McMissile, he gets entangled in a spy thriller, only no one believes him.
Cars 2 is being directed by former Pixar producer Brad Lewis, who is making his directorial debut following producing work on Ratatouille. We've also heard that John Lasseter has returned to Pixar to help co-direct, but Disney is quick to deny that. No screenplay credits are listed yet for Cars 2. Disney will be bringing Cars 2 to theaters everywhere in Disney Digital 3D starting June 24th in the middle of the summer. Seeing this?

Much better than the original - I love how the story centres on an international cast and espionage. Much more interesting 🙂

I've never actually skipped half way through a trailer, and a PIXAR trailer nonetheless. Save this one for the kiddies I guess 🙁

A lot of the charm of Cars (and I suppose this will be the case with Cars 2 as well) is lost on non-gearheads. The sheer amount of love and appreciation for the automotive that goes into these movies is huge, but people not in the know won't recognize a lot of it. Maybe not a critically or even financially bright movie for Pixar (although Cars sells a ton of toys), but kudos to Lasseter and co. for sticking by their passions and bringing this to those of us who care. Can't wait to see it.

I certainly agree, and being a gearhead opens a special part of my heart to Cars. I just can't shake the feeling from these trailers that this movie is less about automotive love and history and is more about Larry the Cable Guy.

Whoops, replied to you below. Also, if it wasn't about automotive love, they'd never have bothered getting David Hobbs in as an E-type. 😀

That's probably because Pixar realizes the limitations of the appeal of this movie and choses to highlight gags that everyone will understand. And I can't even be disappointed about that considering Michael Caine's character is involved in that storyline.

I am skeptical because it just looks like they took all of the Mater Shorts on disney channel and made them into a feature film :- but I love Michael Caine so I will probably see it with the fam

Wow. Seeing that Cars 2 is going to have MATER be the lead character, has me a bit intrigued if I am honest. I was ready to give up on this movie and wait for KFP2 but now they both hold equal intrigue, IMO.

Can't get over the absurdity of a NASCAR being competitive at turning in more than one direction. I know, it's an animated flick, but still...

same here dude, like how the hell can a NASCAR be competitive with a formula 1 car that doesn't make any sense to me or some prototype le man series cars.
