Alien Teaser Trailer

In space no one can hear you scream. We all know the tagline by heart. While the first official teaser trailer for Ridley Scott's long-awaited return to sci-fi, Prometheus, recalled the original Alien teaser with its lettering, one fan has gone so far as to make the truly perfect homage. YouTube user heresjohnny1991 (via AICN) has recreated the original 1979 Alien teaser trailer in the style of the Prometheus teaser, basically borrowing the music and using similar imagery and editing. And it's an absolutely awesome throwback that reminds us how this all began. This may not be a new trailer, but it is still unquestionably worth watching.

Watch the original Alien teaser remade in the style of the first Prometheus teaser, from YouTube:

If you want to watch and compare to the actual Prometheus teaser trailer, you can see that here.

A team of explorers find a clue to the origins of man on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe… There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Prometheus is directed by legendary Oscar nominated filmmaker Ridley Scott, who started it all with Alien and Blade Runner, also directing Thelma & Louise, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven, American Gangster, Body of Lies and Robin Hood most recently. The screenplay was originally written by Jon Spaihts (The Darkest Hour), then updated by Damon Lindelof of "Lost" and Cowboys & Aliens, Star Trek 2. Fox has Prometheus scheduled to hit theaters on 5-25-79 — or rather, June 8, 2012, this summer.

Just shows how much people have been waiting for a true sci-fi. Wonderfully made teaser.

5.25.79.....that looks so wierd

Harrisonvmaq on Dec 29, 2011

Yeah it's such a standard font, kinda ruins it, should be thicker, and more jagged probably.

John I.G. on Dec 31, 2011

Oh wait, do you mean it looks weird because of the actual date? I'm just thinking like a graphic designer sorry :D.

Brilliant!!  Clever dude whoever you are!

This person might have wanted to look at the REAL original trailer first and maybe realize that the Prometheus trailer was modeled after that.  In other words, this was redundant.

Some people forget there were movies before Prometheus.

Nate Carroll on Dec 29, 2011

The point of this was to take an unoriginal idea and stand it on it's head. It's easy to make a new movie trailer play off a very old one, but to make an old one play off a new one play of an old one, takes some skill and talent, because from the surface it seems redundant and pointless, but once you set down to try it, you get bitch slapped by the complexity of what you're trying to do and this guy pulled it off while you were getting bitch slapped.

Joshuah81 on Jan 1, 2012

Yeah, that's what happened.  It wasn't that the guy had no idea how the Prometheus trailer was designed.

Here it is Alien`s orignal amazing

Lobo on Dec 29, 2011

I acutally like the original you posted better.  The Prometheus teaser looks like an homage to the original Alien.

It is without question.  I really hope, there's a lot more to Prom then what the teaser shows. Don't need an updated version of Alien really...

Buzzfunk on Dec 30, 2011

Agreed!  I'm hoping that it indeed could or could not be a prequel, leaving it up to the viewer to decide.

Very nice work indeed !!!!

I just bought the movie thanks to this teaser.

My boyfriend made me watch this about 6 times in a row. Despite the iterations, I still want to see this. Maybe because one of our first dates was a midnight showing of Aliens vs. Predators?

Amanda Nudelman on Dec 29, 2011

Great work

Sweet remake.  I like the sound - and the 5.25.79 at the end was the coolest! Check out our new foal looking like an Alien...look at the mouth going!:

This 'new' alien trailer that most are applauding is really quite BORING because it's already been done, by Ridley Scott for his 1979 Alien movie. The ORIGINAL trailer was much better, because, well, it was the original, from which Prometheus is modeled after. The original Alien trailer ALREADY has the Prometheus trailer elements (titling, the music/sound effect, the cuts between ship exploration and tunnel runs)--so what's is new and fresh about the 'new' Alien trailer? nothing, it is just a copycat. I'd rather praise the original Alien trailer and do all analysis between this original Alien trailer and the Prometheus trailer--all by the original filmmaker, Ridley Scott--rather than waste time with this 'new' Alien trailer imitation. Furthermore, in terms of the filmmaking process, I find it more exciting and interesting to analyze and compare the original Alien trailer and the Prometheus--all coming from the story's filmmaker, Ridley Scott, rather than from some unknown imitator who is not part of the Alien story-making process.
