Jurassic Park

Though it's not a milestone anniversary for the prehistoric blockbuster, the forthcoming release of Jurassic Park and both sequels on Blu-Ray for the first time is getting plenty of attention paid to the 1993 film from Steven Spielberg that still holds up as one of his best works to date. Now in the same fashion as the anniversary screenings of Back to the Future, the United Kingdom seems to be beating us to the punch with a celebratory theatrical re-release of Jurassic Park later this month on September 23rd, well before the Blu-Ray release of the trilogy, and there's a great new trailer highlighting the anticipated event.

Here's the trailer for the United Kingdom theatrical re-release of Jurassic Park courtesy of Empire:

Last week AMC decided to dedicate plenty of time to Jurassic Park by showing the first and third installments of the franchise countless times, but I'm hoping that Jurassic Park gets the same theatrical re-release treatment here in the United States as well. I still remember being in the theater as a kid and watching dinosaurs come to life in front of my very eyes for the first time. Nothing will ever beat hearing that deafening T-Rex roar for the first time, and the digital effects combined with the fantastic practical creature effects are better than some of the special effects that end up on the big screen today, over 18 years later. We know friends across the pond are excited about this  re-release, but United States readers should stay tuned for news on any special screenings that might show up in our neck of the woods. Let's hope life finds a way.

This movie had about 6-7mins of CGI and the rest was great storytelling. Nowadays what we get is 6-7mins of very predictable story and the rest is CGI.

It's almost worth buying video games for systems like xbox and PS3 instead of going to the movies because there you get excellent graphics and good story telling most of the time and best of all you are the hero!

I would love to see this in theaters again! I still remember going to see this with my dad when I was 7 and becoming obsessed with dinosaurs. Too bad I don't live in the UK.

I remember seeing this as 7 and being so excited since it was PG13 and dinosaurs! I saw it with my dad and grandfather and it was such an amazing more then and still is now.

The visual effects and model work are still incredible in this movie, but the story, acting, script don't hold up as well as they did back in 1993 (although even back then it was a bit sloppy at times).
