Star Wars Blu-Rays Trailer

In a distant galaxy, a long time ago, Luke Skywalker assembles his motley crew of allies including space rogue Han Solo and two "droids" - C3PO and R2D2 - to rescue Princess Leia, the rebel leader, from the clutches of the evil Empire. Aw yea, it's almost time to get the long-awaited Star Wars saga, all six movies, on Blu-Ray. I grew up with Star Wars, it's the foundation of my love for sci-fi. I'm looking forward to finally owning the Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-Rays, as I'm a huge BR collector and have been waiting to see these in high def since wearing out our VHS tapes years ago. It's a short new trailer, but check it out!

Watch the latest official trailer for Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-Rays, via Yahoo:

The Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-Ray box set will offer full 1080p video presentations of all six of the films, DTS-HD Master Audio 6.1 surround tracks and more than forty hours of special features, including never-before-seen content from the Lucasfilm archives, commentaries, new footage and much more. You can pick-up the entire saga for around $90 on Amazon, or you can get both of the trilogies individually for $40 each. In addition to releasing this full box set, Lucasfilm has already release an app for iOS called Star Wars Blu-Rays: Early Access that lets you "get an exclusive first look at some of the special features from Star Wars: The Complete Saga" - coming to you on Blu-Ray September 16th! May the force be with you.

2011 - Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-Ray 2012 - Star Wars: The More Complete Saga 35th Anniversary Blu-Ray 2013 - Star Wars: The Ultimate Complete Saga Blu-Ray 2014 - Star Wars: The Even More Ultimate...... blah blah blah...... How many times are we all going to fall for a ton of new releases every time there is a new home video format?  I really hope that Red Tails does well, maybe it will inspire Lucas to actually do something than rely on ripping all of us Star Wars fans off again and again and again.

actually...this will happen again in about 8 years. considering their being released in 3D.

*ugh...  I'm gonna be honest.  I'm happiest right now with my laser disc trilogy

I paid about $170 for the laser disc trilogy and now every one has laser rot

True... say what you will about double (quadruple)-dipping, but this is the first time the Star Wars saga (even the original trilogy) is on BLU-RAY, which to me is the most exciting part. As soon as these hit, I'll definitely be watching the first 3 all over again in 1080P, no question. I just hope the conversions look as good as we all want them to!

1. Nobody is forcing anybody to buy this. 2. Every time a new format comes along, a lot of movies are going to be released on that new format. 3. I myself won't be getting this (I think) because I don't think the extra features are enough to not wait until a better "more complete" version comes along. In the end, it's great to have Star Wars on Blu-ray, for all those who want the best picture and sound quality, and I wish those who don't want to buy the set just SHUT THE HELL UP because they're not losing their money anyway. Get a life!

Yep... this is one of the few series I own on pretty much every format: taped-from-TV VHS, official VHS, re-release VHS, official DVD, re-release DVD, and soon, Blu-Ray. But not LaserDisc, never got into that...

Those prequels look cool!I have not seen them yet, does anyone know if they are any good?

Guys, Blue-Ray is a joke!!!!!!! I had bought the Harry Potter and The Deathly Hollows- Part 1 Combo Pack (Blue Ray/DVD/Digital Copy) because I wanted a Digital Copy for my iPod (I didn't had a Blue Ray). What I do have is the HDMI cable for my XBOX 360 and it looks perfectly awesome. Couple of months after I bought the Harry Potter Combo Pack, I bought the Blue-Ray and it looks excatcly like in my XBOX. My opinion, and I've never been against Lucas nor will I ever be, is that they're just trying to get more money with this kind of stuff.

Mac306 on Aug 12, 2011

Yes, you can watch things in higher definition on your X-Box ($300) but for people solely interested in movies, we can watch things in a somewhat higher quality on our Blu-Ray players ($100-150).

I've been waiting for this ever since it was announced a year ago. The long-awaited deleted scenes from the original trilogy is enough reason to purchase this set, let alone the 1080P versions of the movies themselves. Why WOULDN'T I buy them in the latest hi-def media format? It is only natural that Lucasfilm release the films on each and every new format that comes out. That's what happens with most every film, and that is what SHOULD happen. I love the Star Wars saga, and having these in hi-def will make this movie buff happy for sure.

So I can buy all 6 for $90 or all 6 via 3 then 3 for $80? lol Never the less, as a extremely huge huge fan, no care to buy just yet. Price ain't bad and I'd love it as a gift but my DVDs do me just fine still. 😀

Nate Carroll on Aug 12, 2011

Pretty sure the 3-packs don't come with all the special feature goodies that the 6-film set has.

Anonymous on Aug 12, 2011

22

Yea, at first I was thinking the same thing... but there's obviously some value for that extra $10. As mentioned above, I think only the Complete Saga box set with all 6 has all the special features and everything that comes with these.

Alex Billington on Aug 13, 2011

23

I am totally getting them, I dont care. I dont know bout you other star wars fan wannabies but ill buy every star wars movie that comes out even in 3D if i have to.

spyder on Aug 12, 2011

24

If there's not an option to watch the original trilogy without all the retarded CGI inserts and crap they injected into the "special edition", then no. I won't be buying these. The remastered VHS versions that corrected some of the effects glitches and cleaned up the picture are the definitive versions of the star wars films. If they were to release them on Bluray or DVD, I'd buy them. Until then, if I wanna watch star wars, I'll be watching them on VHS. I won't let episodes 1-3 into my home on any format, though if I could get the originals on bluray in the 6 film set, then I'd buy it and throw out the prequels, or sell them on e-bay or make decorative drink coasters out of them.

Anonymous on Aug 12, 2011

25

I had that set. 🙁 I wish I didn't have to wait for Lucas to die before a hi-def, re-mastered etc etc, version of the original trilogy comes out, that doesn't have all that added nonsense. I didn't mind the added CGI scene with Han and Jabba, or even Han shooting first... but putting in Hayden Christensen at the end of Jedi just makes me a sad panda.

serke on Aug 13, 2011

26

I feel the same way. None of that other stuff bothered me, except for Hayden at the end. It just felt inconsistent to me. Don't stick a young Anakin ghost in with an old Obi-Wan ghost. That's just retarded.

when are they gonna release the "jar jar binks and that damn are deleted " edition???

I get the feeling many will hold out and not buy these sets ASAP(just look at the gazillion 1 star ratings on amazon) since the original editions "do not exist anymore", to quote G. Lucas, and are not added in any of these boxsets. If the large box contained the originals(IV-VI), special edition(IV-VI with added cgi) and the prequels, I'd bet money on that sales would increase 100-500%! I know I would have pre-ordered that box months ago if the originals, unaltered movies were also in this box. A remastering of sound and picture is OK, I have no strange love for wear and tear and distortion(here's looking at you Pal edition of the original trilogy on VHS, goldpackage), but adding new scenes, cgi and altering some keypoints is a no-no. And some of the added cgi just does not look good, lol. Ofc one can't say that for certain how much % the sales would increase, but "alot" seems to fit, but it seem like pissing off the old fans will go on and on. Lucasfilm will release the originals one day, sure, maybe in 2-5 years, just to cash in again. Looking at my shelf....I have all the Star Wars releases last 20 years both Pal and NTSC(Never The Same Color)....so its likely I'll be suckered into buying the large Blu-Ray boxset....since I dont watch movies anymore on VHS, LaserDisc, DvD. So, with so many that have jumped the gun for over a year now, we still do not know for sure what is in these boxsets. Maybe Lucasfilm will add the non-special editions aswell, but it really does not look good.

David Banner on Aug 13, 2011

Lucas will just release another edition in two years. To hell with George Lucas!

Darth Vader's SE pink lightsaber... not that there's anything wrong with that. Screw LFL and their revisionist trilogy. The PT is pure shit.

As a huge fan of the Original Trilogy, I strongly urge everyone to NOT buy George Lucas' play thing. If you want the real movies, sign this petition so we can get the original theatrical prints restored to high definition. This is the petition that finally got the theatricals released as a special feature on DVD, now they're trying to get Lucas to save the films that we grew up with from his destructive pride. These films are a part of film history and a huge cultural landmark and need to be saved for future generations. Sign the petition, spread to your friends, and don't put money in Lucas pocket till he does whats right.

As a side-note, there exists an entire community of fans who create their own "fan-edits" of the OT. Using the best sources available and a huge amount of work, they create versions as close to the true original theatrical editions as possible. Anyone wanting high definition non-Lucas-b@sterdized versions needs to research and download these 🙂

Amazing write-up! This could aid plenty of people find out more about this particular issue. Are you keen to integrate video clips coupled with these? It would absolutely help out. Your conclusion was spot on and thanks to you; I probably won’t have to describe everything to my pals. I can simply direct them here!
