"Get me the main event!" DreamWorks/Disney has unveiled a fantastic featurette for Shawn Levy's Real Steel that takes an inside look at the World Robot Boxing league and the concept, characters, and story behind this action-drama. Real Steel stars Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lilly, Anthony Mackie and Dakota Goyo as Max, most of whom are featured in this talking about working on the movie. We haven't seen or heard much about this since the official trailer dropped in May, and Jackman's brief Comic-Con appearance, but I'm still excited for this, I think it has the potential to be a very entertaining movie. Enjoy!
Watch the new "Main Event" featurette for Shawn Levy's Real Steel, embedded from YouTube:
"The moment of walking in and seeing these robots, my jaw was on the floor," Jackman said previously. They used motion capture for scenes where robots are actually fighting (with Sugar Ray Leonard as the boxing adviser) and built practical robots for everything else. "There are some things only visual effects can pull off, but when you give an actor a real thing, in this case a real 8-foot-tall machine, to interact with and do dialogue opposite, you get a more grounded reality to the performance." They find Atom in a junkyard and hope to train to become the WRB champion. Real Steel hits theaters everywhere starting October 7th.

...I'm sorry, did Hugh Jackman say this movie takes place in 2020? That's in 9 years...I think they may have undershot their vision of the future.

I am very much so looking forward to seeing this movie. Looks very entertaining and Hugh Jackman is one of my favorite actors. I'm just afraid this trailer is giving away too much of the story upfront. The whole time I thought the robots were controlled by the human boxers' movements, but to find that all are powered by remote controls but Hugh's isn't (that giving him the upper hand). I hope there's more to the story than how much was given in this trailer/commentary. Still wanna see it though!

Looks like every generic boxing movie ever -- with robots. I usually care a movie's quality much more so than it's financial success, but in this case, I'm actually rooting for this movie to fail. Because otherwise we'll end up seeing a ton of clone movies of every sport imaginable -- with robots.Â

Keeps getting worse with every trailer. Â This movie looks laughable in a bad way. Â What was he thinking taking on this role Movie is going to flop in a big way

Whether or not the movie is good or not, the way the robots look is really really cool. they have that actual look and feel to them almost as good as the dinosaurs in "Jurassic Park"
