"You'll feel profoundly restored…" IFC Films has debuted the US theatrical trailer for the "controversial" Australian drama Sleeping Beauty, directed by newcomer Julia Leigh, starring Emily Browning, of Sucker Punch and The Uninvited. Yes, this is that indie where Browning gets nude pretty much the whole time, and participates in some odd sex acts, which really aren't that bad. I saw the film at its Cannes Film Fest premiere and really did not like it, at all. It's all hype and no payoff, a bland artsy drama that doesn't provide much at all. Yahoo has a new trailer but it's mostly a rehash of the original with new quotes. Enjoy!

A haunting erotic fairytale about Lucy (Emily Browning), a University student drawn into a mysterious hidden world of beauty and desire with prostitution, where her specialty is the 'Sleeping Beauty chamber'.
Sleeping Beauty was both written and directed by first-time Australian filmmaker Julia Leigh, who is a novelist making her major leap into cinema with this film. Sleeping Beauty is being presented by legendary Oscar winning director Jane Campion. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this summer, and is being released by IFC Films in limited theaters this fall beginning on December 2nd. Anyone interested?

Jane Campion didn't direct it. Pay attention kiddies.

EvenĀ the fact that she's presenting it is off kilter.

Feeling conflicted about whether you are a pedophile or not? Go see this movie, you'll have made the decision by the end.

What is pedophiliac about a 22 year old nude girl? The term pedophile gets thrown around way too much for something people are "supposed" to take seriously.

This seems either very loosely based or inspired by Kawabata's novella The House of Sleeping Beauties.

I don't know I think it looks good, but I can see how it could easily be a fail..

So is she a victim of the "tyranny" of evil, disgusting and perverted men OR does she simply use her good looks and sex appeal for all it's worth? She surely can't have been forced to do that. Poor women, evil men. So easy, isn't it.

Ha, sounds like you're just disappointed there wasn't kinkier sex scenes Alex! This looks pretty creepy, but all the quotes did was detract from that. Still got to admit I'm intrigued
