City in the Sky Trailer

"A fugitive slave, a defective android…" Time for a quick break from our usual to check out the trailer for City in the Sky, an Italian sci-fi short film that looks very interesting, to say the least. The trailer is up on Vimeo (via TheMovieBox) and is just a quick tease for the full-on 30-minute short that you can actually rent on iTunes already. City in the Sky comes from director Giacomo Cimini and I'm not even really sure I can explain what's going on, but it looks intriguing. There's a few unique digital sci-fi elements wrapped around some kind of story involving some pretty girl with butterflies. I may just rent it. Has anyone seen the short?

Watch the official trailer for Giacomo Cimini's City in the Sky, available for download on iTunes:

Italy, at the end of the 21st century. Quinto, a gentle, naive man on his quest to find the fabled 'City in the Sky' arrives at a dilapidated family-owned hotel run by transsexual Dora and her drug addled son. Locked in one of the rooms is Ai, a malfunctioning android prostitute, waiting to be deactivated. By error at check-in, Quinto meets Ai. A 30-minute short film directed by Italian filmmaker Giacomo Cimini starring a cast including Valentina Izumi, Massimo Triggiani, Stefano Fresi and Taiyo Yamanouchi. The screenplay was written by Leonardo Rizzi & Giacomo Cimini, adapted from 'Enough to bathe in' by Yair Packer. The short premiered at the Venice Film Festival and can be rented in HD right now on iTunes or the official site.

You gotta be joking? I'm sure you think this is a "film" too. This is hack at best.

Looks like cut scenes from a mid-90's video game.

I take it as a great compliment :). I grew up with mid-90's videogame.

Me too.  Doesn't mean I want to play them now.

Oh well, I'll go back playing Zac Mckraken part deux.

Alex I know you liked Ruriai's last short - he's got another one on the way...

...looks and plays amateur, and try-hard. pass.

I like the look of it. Even liked the wonky animation of the butterfly, it looked quite stylish and imperfect.
