Zach Galifianakis Joining Ryan Reynolds for Adaptation of 'R.I.P.D.'
by Ethan Anderton
February 2, 2011
We've known Ryan Reynolds would be leading the adaptation of the Dark Horse graphic novel R.I.P.D. (or Rest In Peace Department) since last April. Then in August there was word that McG was very interested in directing the adaptation and Universal was interested in snagging Zach Galifianakis for the second lead in the film as Reynolds partner. However, September brought the official news that Robert Schwentke (RED) would be at the helm of the project with no mention of anymore casting. Now we have official word from 24 Frames (confirmed by Variety) that the bearded funnyman will indeed star in the film along with Reynolds.
The film will follow a dead cop (Reynolds) that makes a deal to work 100 years for divine law enforcement in exchange for a shot at finding who killed him. Galifianakis will play Reynolds' partner as the two police officers patrol the underworld. Last we heard the project was slated to shoot this summer after Reynolds completes production on both The Change-Up with Jason Bateman and Safe House with Denzel Washington. Galifianakis will next be seen in The Hangover 2 this May and is supposed to have a cameo in The Muppets as well. Excited?

this movie sounds awful. i can't believe the concept has been greenlighted. but the title of the story reminded me of a question i've been wanting to ask on the site: WHO thinks Zach Galifianakis is funny and why? i think the guy (aside from a quick scene here and there in hangover) is NOT funny.

I was only joking Beevis, you can shoot me in the leg and we can do some breakdancing til the doctor comes. I can't believe I haven't seen Out Cold, that looks like an 80's movie made in the 90's, how many of these type of films did they make then? They're like the gift that keeps on giving.
