His company's first venture into film delivered the Sundance selected feature Margin Call (read Alex's review here), and now Zachary Quinto's production banner Before the Door Pictures is heading into horror. Today the company announced collaboration with Sunchaser Entertainment and German producer Christian Arnold-Beutel (behind two other Sundance selected films The Ledge and Flypaper) for The Banshee Chapter, a film described as an elevated horror film. Blair Erickson wrote the screenplay and will make this his feature directorial debut. Details on this intriguing new horror film are below. Read on!
The story follows young, female journalist who follows the mysterious trail of a missing friend who had been experimenting with mind-altering chemicals developed in secret government drug tests. A fast-paced blend of fact and fiction, the film is based on real documents, actual test subject testimony, and uncovered secrets about programs run by the CIA. Sounds a bit more like a thriller than a horror film, but aside from the genre classification, it sounds like a promising flick. In addition to his work in front of the camera, it sounds like Quinto has a lucrative producing career ahead of him too.
