Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

"However history remembers me before I was president, I shall always think of myself as a hunter." Well, as someone who hasn't been as impressed by the trailers as some viewers, I have to say that Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter now has my full attention. A new red band trailer has just cropped up online and it's great bloody fun with some ridiculous action. I think the tone is still a little too serious for such over-the-top action, so I'm not sure how that's going to work on the big screen, but I'm at least somewhat excited about this adaptation by Timur Bekmambetov now. Well done, 20th Century Fox. Rock on, Abe.

Here's the new red band trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter originally from IGN:

President Lincoln's mother is killed by a supernatural creature, fueling his passion to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers. A cross between D.W. Griffith's Abraham Lincoln & F. W. Murnau's Nosferatu.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is directed by Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov, director of the Night/Day Watch series, Irony of Fate 2, and Wanted previously. An adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's mash-up novel of the same name, it was adapted by writers Seth Grahame-Smith & Simon Kinberg (of xXx: State of the Union, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, X-Men: The Last Stand, Jumper, This Means War). 20th Century Fox is bringing Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter to theaters in 3D starting June 22, 2012 this summer.

There is some stunningly beautiful violence in this. Looks like a lot of fun.

There's no reason whatsoever that this has to be Lincoln. Just seems gratuitous to me.

Its Seth Grahame-Smith's style though, like Pride & Prejudice and Zombies, it has to be gratuitous.

awesome. so awesome.. i don't know why you keep saying this looks like it takes itself to seriously ethan.  It's a movie about abraham lincoln hunting vampires... ahhhhh. ok, i still hate 95% of ethan's articles on here.  Alex do everyone a favor and just write all the articles!!

I liked the way loads of it was looking before, but I can see a bit more of Timur in the scenes where the camera was flying and it's looking even better. Some folk didn't seem into this but it looks great. I've been destroying trees in my garden with a small hand axe today and I wish I was as skilled as Abe there, he'd have finished it in about a 10th of the time it's taken me.

You know what, why the hell not?  So what if it's Lincoln,  it still looks better than half the action crap they spoon feed us nowadays.  They'll get my $15.

That looks of hell of a lot better than the early teasers, looks really damn good. I don't care about the 3D though. It's a dark movie and the 3D won't do it any favors.

Wow I did not think this was going to be rated R. Kudos to Fox for allowing both Prometheus and Vampire Hunter to go all out.

Action looks good, but just can't get to let go of the fact that (maybe I'm missing something) he's a mere human and can actually fight head on with the vampires' speed.  Something's missing.
