Pacino / Walken / Arkin

If The Expendables and RED just didn't give you enough old guys caught up in some serious action, then actor and Oscar winning producer of The Cove, Fisher Stevens, has something special you. THR has word that Stevens will be at the helm of Stand Up Guys, a new action comedy that will bring Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin together for some fun. Formely known as Old Timers, the story follows two aging criminals, one of whom has been hired to kill his friend. In one last night of debacuhery, they hit up a brothel, steal cars, evade the police but must also face choices they've made over the years.

It sounds a little less mainstream than the aforementioned films featuring geriatric action, but the cast is certainly enticing. However, I can't help but think this idea sounds better in theory rather than actually coming together as a real project. Either way, it looks like the project will start shooting in April with Stevens directing his biggest film yet. It'll be a nice reunion for Glengarry Glen Ross stars Al Pacino and Alan Arkin, but the former and Christopher Walken have never appeared on screen together despite both having roles in Gigli. As for Arkin and Walken, they both appeared in America's Sweethearts. How about that for some six degrees of veteran actors? Anyway, I'm all for seeing this turn out to be something good.
