The solid Armie Hammer has capitalized on his standout turn in The Social Network and become a full-blown star. Most of the buzz surrounding him now involves Disney's upcoming Lone Ranger, in which he'll star as the masked hero opposite Johnny Depp as Tonto, but now Deadline reports that after Hammer rides into the sunset, he will lead a talented supporting cast in a crime thriller called Cut Bank. Joining him will be John Malkovich, Ben Kingsley, Michael Sheen, and Teresa Palmer in a story about a former high school football star looking to escape from a small town, changing him and the town forever.
The script was written by Roberto Patino and appeared on the 2009 Black List, and Cut Bank, which is also the name of the small town in the film, will be the directorial debut of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" director Matt Shakman. This cast sounds pretty fantastic with the exception of Palmer, but that's only because I don't believe she's has truly proven herself on the big screen. I'll hold out hope that the casting directors saw some untapped talent in her that we haven't seen yet, but even if she isn't great in the movie, the rest of the cast is good enough to make up for it. Thoughts?
