"I had a dream my life would be… so different from this hell I'm living!" Time to start your day with some Les Mis. Universal has unveiled a new 90-second TV spot for Les Miserables, the epic movie musical being directed by Tom Hooper. Most of this features a lot of the same footage we've seen in the teaser trailer and the most recent extended first look (when is the second trailer coming?). But it's still wonderful, because this movie looks amazing, I love listening to Anne Hathaway singing on repeat, even without the visuals. Hugh Jackman is also shown quite a bit as Jean Valjean, but none of his singing yet. View below!
Watch the first lengthy TV spot for Tom Hooper's Les Misérables, from YouTube (via The Playlist):
Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) is directing Les Miserables, an adaptation of the successful stage musical based on Victor Hugo's classic novel set in 19th-century France, in which a paroled prisoner named Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) seeks his redemption. Alain Boublil adapted his own work with Claude-Michel Schonberg, who also wrote the stage musical, Herbert Kretzmer and William Nicholson. The film also stars Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen and Eddie Redmayne and will hit theaters everywhere on December 25th, Christmas Day, this winter. Sounds good!

They cleaned up Anne's voice from the trailer. It kind of takes away some of the emotion. It kind of makes the voice smoother, but still.

No they didn't. All the singing was recorded live on set and they simply used a different take.

I know it was all live, but if you watch the trailer next to this video (like I did), it's a little "smoother," like they took out some background noise. It's also not as loud. That might have been the trailer I watched though. I don't think it was the official Les Mis Youtube channel trailer.

I have a huge distaste for period pieces and musicals, but daaaamn Hatheway, I am seriously looking forward to this film.

I have a couple of friends that hate musicals too, but I'm encouraging them to see this because Les Mis is just such a powerful story, no matter the context (and the music really is beautiful)... I'm also excited at the prospect of Schonenberg and Boublil doing Miss Saigon as a film next, since that's the other big "musical drama" that's always struck a chord with me.

hmmm... I am confused... in my opinion this new, little upgraded version of teaser is... worse. As txsrangerfan08 said, some emotions were just taken away... also the editing is less dynamic (which in the first version was quite nice). But still I am looking forward to see this adaptation! 😀

Anne Hathaway's heartfelt rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream' is totally selling this movie!
