B.J. Novak 'Saving Mr. Banks' & Vanessa Hudgens Did 'Machete Kills'
An impressive cast has already been assembled for the Disney centric film Saving Mr. Banks, a film following Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers, and as the House of Mouse creator strives to convince Travers into giving him the rights to her famous character in order to make the classic movie musical. Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman and more are already starring in the film from The Blind Side director John Lee Hancock, and now THR has word that "The Office" star B.J. Novak is taking the role of Robert Sherman, a Disney songwriter for the musical.
Sherman, who just passed away this past March, wrote all of the Mary Poppins songs along with his brother Richard Sherman. In addition the musical brothers also wrote tunes for The Jungle Book, but their real claim to fame is writing the famously annoying It's a Small World After All. Due to his commitment to "The Office," Novak hasn't really had many big roles, his most prominent being a turn in Inglourious Basterds, but with a much smaller role on the series coming in the next season, I'm betting he'll have more time for feature film work.
In a completely different genre, the cast of Machete Kills has gained a cast member, despite just recently wrapping production last month. If you thought Michelle Rodriguez, Zoe Saldana, Amber Heard and Sofia Vergara weren't enough eye candy, apparently Vanessa Hudgens has the role of Cereza. Of course, we don't have any details on the character, which is impressive considering the film is already done filming. This news comes from Hudgens' official website (via Latino Review), and it just marks another addition to an eclectic that also features Charlie Sheen, Edward James Olmos, William Sadler and more.

Machete Kills has such an amazing cast! The only thing I hope is that it doesn't overshadow Danny Trejo, as he really should be the one shinning here!

Hi Ethan, I'm Jeff Sherman, eldest son of the late Robert Sherman. I have two issues with your article. In fact, my dad co-wrote ALL, not 'many of' the songs for "Mary Poppins." Also, your personal issues with "It's a Small World" do not at all reflect the world opinion at large. While you might find it annoying, it is immensely loved all around the planet and has been since it was featured in the 1964 World's Fair. The song plays at a Disney theme park around the world at every hour of the day and it is the most translated song in history. If you actually listened to my father's simple but profound words in that song, it is a poem, a plea for world peace, compassion and understanding. It is a beautiful legacy that my dad wished these things for mankind and that generation after generation his message will be handed down. Long, long after your snarky little online jabs are forgotten, people all over the world will still be singing my father's words and we will all be better for it. JCS

Oh, sorry, the source said "many" of the songs. I'll make a change to reflect that. Also, the jab at "It's a Small World" is not meant to be hurtful, but a joke as everyone makes some sort of remark about the song being annoying simply BECAUSE as you say, "The song plays at a Disney theme park around the world at every hour of the day." In fact, the Disney film The Lion King even cracks a joke about it, so we're not trying to discredit your father's work in any way, just making a similar joke in kind. We cherish his contribution to film very much, and hope you understand that we meant no genuine disrespect.
